Kick down question

I have a modified 440 and a 727. The transmission will kick down at 2900 rpm, about 57 mph, but not at 3000 rpm. I'd like it to still kick down at a little higher speed, maybe 62-64 perhaps. Is the current situation normal? Can I adjust the kick down linkage to get it to still drop a gear at a higher speed?

If you can still get full throttle & move the kickdown further back an adjustment will help but you don't want limit full throttle .
Otherwise the settings are all inside the trans , the governor in the tailshaft is key .

@Chryco Psycho Is the governor adjustable? Is it accessible without opening up the transmission?

The governor is accessable but the tailhousing has to be removed to get to it , not the worst job ....

You don't say what gearing or tire size you have. This kit requires some work and ability.

3:55 gears and 275/40-17 tires.

Think your '74 would be the same as my '73
I messed with mine in the past but eventually set to spec as that seemed to work better overall..
