What is the part number for a 1970 Carter AVS for a 383 nagnum with a manual transmission and A/C.
Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

At the bottom of the page: Two different carbs, depending on whether you have ECS or not ECS. I.e. California or non-California.
However, it shows manual transmission cars had a Holly, not a Carter.

Thanks, Robert!  Looks like I need a Holley R4367A.

That listing is incomplete.  There is another page with more applications for a 383+4. You would need a Holley 4369, because of the A/C on your car.

4369A is for 383 w/ auto trans.  OP has a 4 speed.

On that page it lists that carb for an auto trans, not a manual.

This was in the restoration guide .

So,....... the "infallible" restoration guide, and the come down from Mount Sinai parts book BOTH say that there is no car that had a 383+4 and manual transmission with A/C.  Obviously not, or there would be a carb listed for it. Both of those lists are incomplete. Is Erik's car bogus?? It is not.  Does Erik have a broadcast sheet for his car?  Let us know please.
Correct carb. is 4369 because of the A/C. I will try and locate a broadcast sheet with this information on it, in my archives.

The guide is like the internet, if it says it it must be true! 🤣🤣. I didn't write the book I just read it. So much for misinformation 😩

Respectfully, that is not what either of these sources say.  What they show is that a 383 application with a 4 speed used the same carburetor, with or without air conditioning, on the respective CAS or ECS (ie California) systems,
The carburetors used with air conditioning, and with all ECS carbs, have a hot idle compensator valve.  As the attachment states, this valve opens when hot to relieve a heat induced rich idle situation.  The hot idle results when the AC is on.
With a manual transmission and AC, the engine sees the AC load at idle.
With an automatic transmission and AC, the engine sees the load of the AC and the additional load of the torque converter.  This greater load causes the engine to run hotter at idle.  Thus the valve.
All ECS cars have the hot idle compensator.  I expect this is because of more stringent CA emissions laws coupled with (as I recall) a retarded initial ignition timing.
The documents shown above match the more detailed information in the 1970 service manual.

Great information!  To be clear, my car is a 383-4 HP (335 hp) with a 3-speed manual transmission and A/C.  No ECS.  I do have the fender tag but no build sheet.  4369 it is!

Here is a page from the service manual for 4721, 4722, and 4895 Carter carbs. Those were for 318 cars for the 1970 model year. Note what is written.

Now the same for the carbs in question.
