"WHEN REPLACING A COIL SPRING CLUTCH ASSEMBLY (3
FINGER TYPE) WITH A CENTERFORCE DIAPHRAGM TYPE PRESSURE
PLATE, IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE CLUTCH PEDAL TO STAY IN THE
FULLY DEPRESSED POSITION DURING THE OPERATION OF THE
CLUTCH PEDAL. THIS IS CAUSED DUE TO THE REDUCED PEDAL
EFFORT REQUIRED TO OPERATE THE CENTERFORCE DIAPHRAGM
TYPE PRESSURE PLATE.
THIS PROBLEM IS USUALLY CAUSED DUE TO THE PEDAL
ASSIST/ OVER-CENTER SPRING INSTALLED BY THE VEHICLE
MANUFACTURER DESIGNED TO REDUCE THE PEDAL EFFORT
REQUIRED WITH THE O.E.M. (3 FINGER TYPE) CLUTCH SYSTEM
VERSUS THE EFFORT CREATED BY THE NEW CENTERFORCE
DIAPHRAGM STYLE PRESSURE PLATE.
TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, YOU MUST EITHER REMOVE THE PEDAL
ASSIST SPRING FROM UNDER THE DASHBOARD OR ADD A HEAVY
DUTY CLUTCH PEDAL RETURN SPRING."

I agree, I prefer the three finger B & B style, but I've had a customer supply the diaphragm style for me to install....I took the big spring off the pedal and the customer complained when he had issues with it sticking to the floor....He took it to a "speed shop" and they told him I was an idiot and forgot to install the big spring :crazytalk: ....he complained to me and I got him a spring and sent him on his way...shaking my head....last I heard he ended up destroying replacing the whole clutch... :dunno: sometimes you can't fix stupid....

BUT....for the original poster....you will hear pros and cons for both styles...it really is your choice...

I have the Centerforce on my 440/512 stroker with 550+ HP.  AFTER I removed the clutch pedal return spring I haven't had any issues with the pedal staying on the floor.  Have over 1K miles on it with several power shifts with no issues.

When I first got my car, the B&B was shot so I contacted Brewers and got a new clutchplate, B&B pressure plate and had the flywheel resurfaced. It wasn't acting properly so I pulled it back out after about 200miles. It was easy to see that one of the three fingers wasn't engaging the same time as the others. I called Brewers, told them about it and they said they would replace it for free, but I had to pay the shipping. Shipping was about the same as a new pressure plate. So I bought a new RAM diaphragm from Jegs and haven't had any issues 20,000+ miles later.

Nothing against Brewers or the B&B, just the way it worked out.

Had the exact same issue once with a McLeod from Brewers, ended up fixing it ourselves  :bigthumb:
