Anyone making poly/plastic replacement fuel tanks for e-bodies? The aftermarket steel/zinc ones are inexpensive enough but I like to do things once. Seems like those poly tanks would last forever.

I've never seen a composite replacement tank for these cars.

Original tanks have lasted 40-50 years, do we really need longer?

When was the last time someone drove an E-Body in the winter on a regular basis!   :looney:

My thoughts on lasting longer was more about never getting rust inside the gas tank again. I don't know all the past history of my Challenger so it may have sit for a long time in the past, causing the rust. Now that it's mine, i'll be taking good care of it. Proper care is probably the best preventative.

Thanks for the input!

It is the crap from gas station that gets in your tank including water and break down of the fuel sitting around.

But like it was already said " they lasted almost 50 years the first time"
One of the things on my radar with a "new to me, classic car" car is to swap out the gas tank, just for piece of mind to avoid headaches down the road . I assume it's a rusty mess inside. Mine sure was in the 70 Challenger

At $125-200 a pop for a coated steel tank, I won't mind installing a new tank every ten years if it gets gummy.  I don't think I'd feel too safe with a plastic tank hanging out there under the license plate.  They are pretty exposed with only the valance between the tank and the idiot texting behind you.  A proper racing fuel cell would be a different matter.

Heck, i bought my steel tank for i think $75...   im 72 years old, the odds of me outlasting it are...well...zero..
