This modification has been around a long time. I did this to my barracuda back in 1996 and raced it for 8 years and no problems. http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php?topic=13216.0

@mopar jack thanks a ton! I'm almost ready for this stage in my JS23U0B project and have been mulling over options. This makes perfect sense!

I've been doing it for years. I don't even waste the money on new mounts anymore. Greg's 572 tore the mount immediately and I just did the bolt mod on it. Still works fine 4 years later.

I did that mod on my 71 road runner back 1994. Just removed it last year to restore the car. On my 73 challenger I used a section of chain instead of the rod, that was back in 1980. They all worked well.

That is a great idea, I just cant remove the mount from my B body bird lol was looking for an in place bolt on. think I'll just find some heim joints and threaded coupler maybe some tie rod end bushings seems easy enough.
