^^^ Thanks Brad! Looks like these folks are down south in the 909... will probably givem' a call and see what they recommend for my setup.

Mopsquad

Brad turned me on to those guys.  They were just up the hill from me in Yucaipa, CA

Oh man! $400 alternators are something I'd like to avoid if possible. Thank God I don't run a bunch of large drawing accessories. What about the Jap stuff? Somebody said their Denso alternators were good and also powerful and it seems to me that I've seen photos, either here or on CC.com of them mounted. No?  :dunno:

I've seen several posts with the 1 wire Denso conversion... looking for a plug and play solution. Just bought a new fan controller that is supposed to ramp up the fans as opposed to that 70A full power on load my current setup has. That combined with a higher output alternator should do the trick. Have a new set of 7 blade (1600CFM)Spal fans I need to install as well. Hoping to have it all sorted in the next month or so.

Bought a Powermaster 95A alternator when I got the Challenger just over a year ago because the one on it was dead. Miracle I made the 80 miles home on battery alone as it needed to be replaced as well.

Did not realize at the time the dual Spal fans on the radiator alone pull down somewhere in the neighborhood of 70A. Like to get a higher rated alternator so I'm not near max every time the fans come on. Shopping on Summit and it looks like the only other game in town to get up to 130A in a square back externally regulated dual pulley unit is Tuff Stuff. Never heard of them and the reviews are mixed... some complain of whine under load. Anyone out there heard of them or recommend another unit? Linky dinky to the 130A:

70A  ???   Good grief that has to be wrong !   Looking on Summit the worst i found for dual fans was 45 amp.   Most single fans are in the 5 to 10 amp range.

No Joke 70A total. The SPAL fans I just picked up pull 35A. Now this is max amps and probably just at startup... but they probably still pull 25A when running flat out.

When I was researching electric fans, I think I read the more amps the bester quality the fan sort of a deal?   I ended up buying one from this vendor at Carlisle one year. Great products and a small Ma/Pa type business! They have been working great for years now with no issues. I did end up using the Dakota digital fan controller though.

Pretty much. Any fan worth a rip is going to pull some amps to get the job done right is what I've found to be true.

I have one of those Dakota Digital boxes new sitting on a shelf in the garage... previous owner never installed it.

Ordered one of these last night: Proform Digital Variable Speed Fan Controllers 69595  https://www.summitracing.com/parts/pro-69595

Hoping the slow speed ramp up will take the edge off the on/off high amp fans.

*** EDIT***

Just noticed I put this post in the Engine sub instead of the Electrical sub... if a mod would kindly move the thread to the appropriate sub I'd appreciate it.

Which controller is it? I might need one for the Javelin if you were looking to sell it?  Still haven't decided if I'll go with electric of just a mechanical fan yet....  Lots of things to do till I need to get to that point LOL..

FSHTAIL

I'm using a bracket kit from Mancini and running a Denso 120amp alt from a 1985 Toyota Pickup...

Internally regulated..

Rock solid..        Found the alt on eBay for cheap....    I used an Amp install kit for the power cable (what I had)

No voltage regulator...       Amp gauge bypassed under the dash..
H4 relay kit from Amazon, no flicker when I'm sitting at a stop light..
1973 BS23H Cuda' 340/TKX 5 speed (70 AAR clone-ish)

FSHTAIL

As mentioned above.       Not an oem look.       But readily available and I got this one from eBay for 60 bucks and its a Denso brand.  120amp.

I went to find a direct link to the person I bought mine from, but I don't see it anymore
