Hi,

Want something good and nice looking.
Engine and almost everything in the car is original.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

You're gonna learn to hate headers. I sure did. They always seem to develop leaks but even if they don't, they create horrible clearance problems. Just doing little things like switching a starter or adjusting transmission linkage becomes a nightmare. And of course they give off massive heat which shortens the lifespan of softer underhood stuff not to mention the extra heat through the floor and firewall.

Unless you have a race motor and plan to drive hard all the time, I'd give it some thought. A good set of HP manifolds will perform pretty nicely.

Have had headers on it probably for 30 years but you may be right, thanks for mentioning it.  Headers are also quite low and its easy to hit them here in my country streets.

Which HP manifolds do you all recommend?

How can I get a nice deep muscle car sound with them?

If you spend the money on quality headers, you won't have constant leaks or ground clearance issues, the technology has come a long way in 50 years. :alan2cents:

I purchased a set of Doug's headers and going to pickup a set of TTI exhaust. TTI headers are also really good. From what I understand, these are the best headers both in quality and fitment. But you do pay a bit more. But they come at a price. A bit under $2k for both headers and exhaust depending on options. Dougs headers are a bit cheaper. I'm not sure, but I hear the clearance isn't as bad as old school headers.

If muscle car sound and power is what you want and you already have a performance cam in the engine, then go with headers to get the most out of it. Need to include the cost for a mini starter. Most headers won't work with the stock starter.
