I am trying to find a definitive answer to what the differences are between the B body and E body hp manifolds. All the searches that I have done around the internet have netted definite ambiguity. Generally all I hear is "slight differences". Does anybody know exactly what "slight" is and where I'm going to see "slight"?  :help:

The difference comes in the different year B Body manifolds, but if you're comparing 1970-1971 B & E manifolds, then there is no difference.

66-67, 68-69 B Body manifolds are different then 70-71.
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

So how are the 68-69 manifolds different from 70-71? I need a set for a 383 I have and am thinking of putting it in my Challenger. Most manifolds that I've found are 68-69. Like I said, some say only slight differences.  :dunno:

Welcome to the site
the angle of the bolt locations change on the flange [clocking]  with different years , C body manifolds are very different , make sure if you order pipes from TTI to give them the manifold casting #s so they can match the flanges  :bigthumb:

CP,  So am I understanding you correctly that it is simply the clocking location of the manifold flange studs to head pipe? There isn't a drop location difference or angle difference?
Kevin

There is a significant angle difference on the passenger side.

So will 68-70 B body big block HP exhaust manifolds work on a big block E-body?

I was always under the impression they would.

RUNCHARGER

Yup: The 68-71 B-bod manifolds will bolt right in. However the clocking on one of the 68-69 manifolds is different and you would have to cut the headpipe flange off and change it's position to work with the older manifold.

68-70 B Body manifolds do not exist . 1970 is different .

The reason I'm trying to hash this all out is because I have a line on a pair of 68-69 hp manifolds that the guy just wants gone. If I were to install them I would have a complete custom exhaust bent and installed. So it is sounding like I would run into no problems with install other than just not being correct.  :veryexcited: Nothing better than almost free parts.

I see no problem with that , they will fit & work

Not to hijack this thread, but is all stock manifolds hp? All years?

Chryco Psycho

No
The 2bbl engines or low performance engines had log type manifolds , the HP manifolds were upswept & flowed much better than the logs
