I was thinking of riding the Harley down through Arizona before it gets too hot.
Are there any good junk yards to go through while I'm down there?
Any specific mopar yards?

I know the hidden valley and the desert yard.  Isn't there a pontiac yard down there also.

Ideas would be nice please.

I was all over that area 40 years ago & there was almost no Mopars back then , I bet it has not changed
I went to a huge car show 18 months ago in Phoenix & out of 3-400 cars there  was a 69 rr & 10 new Challs & Chargers

wow!  That sure sounds bleak.

The steel would be perfectly preserved but the rubber & interior would be trashed if you can find them . there seems to be more around Vegas Than Phoenix & the Mats is happening on March 20-22 weekend

Nothing of value left. That's my experience

Well, if no mopars are to be found at least I can go visit Steve and take a few days walk through his two giant pontiac yards.

Went to Desert Valley Auto Parts in 2012, all interesting Mopars were already picked clean, all that was left was carcasses, mostly four-doors, and broken parts... Cool experience to see all that rust-free metal, some nice photo ops, but don't expect to see any hard-to-find parts...

There was an oldies yard I found in Az maybe 6-7 years ago. When I took the same route last year it was gone

So, Desert valley has 4 yards to walk through.  They have moved all of their mopars to one location.
They are in the process of shutting down their phoenix location.
Hidden valley also will let me walk through their yards.

Anybody know if Arizona is on lock down?  Or if there are hotels available?
If not I would need to bring a bed role and sleep under the stars.

Being a recent transplant from AZ, I will have to say Chryco is right.

None the less, I wouldn't let that discourage me from going and making a day out of it. Especially along Broadway Rd and checking out over-priced Desert Valley. Even opening up CraigsL or facebook market will pan out more than what Salida, Colorado has to offer. LOL!

There was a rumor, from one of my old car club members, there was a classic bone yard recently opened heading towards Tucson. I was going to go there, at one time, but never made it.

Gotta say, if I were you, I would check out the yard in Delta (CO).

Other than that, be careful of sleeping out under the stars (What stars? It's smoggy, light polluted AZ!) and mixing it up with the bark scorpions. Them suckers hurt!

have not been to Arizona so I don't really know what to expect.
And yes anything will yield more stuff than Salida.
Will watch out for the bark scorpions.
So the one on the way to tucson would be on the north side of the city then right?

It's been some years since I went to the delta yard.  picked up some parts for my ramcharger I couldn't find anywhere else.
I'll have to contact them.  Happen to remember what their name was?

Thanks!

ernest and sons were the only people I could find that have old cars and will allow me to look through. Costs 25 bucks though.
Black jack said they have old cars for sale whole.
Wow, years ago I remember going to Delta and walking through maybe 6 yards no sweat, no charge.  Things sure have changed in the last ten years.

What to expect? Better have that bell tied on to your Harley for this ride.

In regards to the yard I mentioned: Yes, north of Tucson, but I am wondering if he was referencing Desert Valley in Casa Grande. Not real sure, but it seems it was another yard.

The one in Delta, they want money to walk the yard? Can that be applied towards a purchase if you luck out and find something? Wow! "Greedy" comes to mind.

I don't recall the name, but if your traveling along 50, thru Delta, there is a vintage car/truck lot on the west side. South of that lot is a road traveling west. You go past an intersection and almost to the river on the north side of the road. Its been years since I was last there. A fair selection of different American built classics there. Mostly 60s and 70s from what I remember.

Safe travels!!!
