So I'm in my office looking at the computer & I catch lights moving on my security camera monitor... They are probably 1/4 mile or more down the street & look "different" I watch as they travel down the street & just as the vehicle gets near my house he taps the brakes... And I realize why it looked "different"  the truck is backing up down my street at probably 25-30 mph..... WTH?.....  So I flash back to a buddy in high school who lost all forward gears & drove his car home about ten miles late at night.... So did this truck lose forward gears?  Nope! cause just as he gets to my house he puts it in drive & pulls around the corner onto the side street behind my property...  Crazy....

I have a similar story. My middle son and I were at Waffle House and saw this guy driving in reverse down a 6 lane road with the police in pursuit. He crossed the median, still in reverse, and hit another car.

As you said, some people are just crazy and what they do is alarming. About 10 years ago we drove over the Idaho/Montana pass to go to Missoula Montana  for a few days. A storm was moving in and we only drove over the front wheel drive Caravan so decided to leave early. It was snowing hard and starting to pile up. Told the wife we are good unless we get stuck behind someone who has slicks for tires. Got past all the slow pokes and headed up the grade of Lookout Pass. Doing just fine when I see this beat up old station wagon facing down hill, figured oh great, the driver spun around and is now blocking the left land. Oh no, as we get closer it is obvious this clown is backing up the pass in the left lane, yes, backing up the snow packed road in a station wagon backwards. Glad when we got around him. Amazing what some people will do.

My Dad told me a funny story about his friend who bought a new Chevrolet in the late 40's. He complained to the dealer that the car would get stuck in reverse but they couldn't find the problem. However one day the car got stuck in reverse and George just couldn't get it unstuck. You guessed it, he ended up backing the car all the way through the city of Kelowna to get it to the dealer. Dad always got a chuckle out of that.

People today are truly nuts.  I think it has to do with how spoiled people are with Technology and the fact that people seem to have more muscles when it's behind an email or text than in person.

Many many years ago the wifes forward range went out in her Cutlass. Yep, drove it home in reverse
