Yes a 1500 truck can pull it. Personally I much prefer a heavier truck with the Cummins if you can do it. In my experience the Hemi is very thirsty when towing and with a Cummins you'll barely feel the weight behind you

They are based out of Ca. which is where I am so it was convenient. You have to return it to the same place which kinda sucks but it only cost $1000 for a 30 day rental of an enclosed heavy duty 24 footer and that was far better than buying a new one at ten times that price or more. It was nice to have many days loading prior to taking the trip.

This company has lots of valuable advice on setting up for safe towing. I learned from other people's disasters that most 1500 trucks can do the job but the crucial rating is not frame strength or engine horsepower, rather it is the rated payload capacity of your truck. This varies wildly for most trucks but it is printed on the little yellow sticker in your door jamb. My 1500 long bed is a two door so it's high but still only 1900. A four door or a 4x4 is far lower.

For instance, a 1500 truck can be rated to tow 10,000 but a trailer fully loaded to that weight will/should have a tongue weighing 2000 pounds which is more than a 1500 truck has in payload capacity. This pushes the rearend very low and takes weight off the front end of the tow vehicle which is dangerous. A load distribution hitch can help but not with an imbalance like this. Check out a four door, 4x4 truck and you'll be shocked at how low the rated payload is.

I'd be willing to bet that a lot of trailer wheel problems people have on long hauls can be traced to a bad towing set up along with a misloaded trailer.

1590 payload, 8610 max trailer weight rating. I`d love to get a 2500 with a 6.4 or even a Cummins but not in the budget so I`m trying to find an enclosed that will be within legal limits and more importantly be safely towed. I`m figuring a trailer weight around 3500, cuda weighs about 3250  so with tools and stuff i figure right around 7000lb total loaded trailer.

I think you should be good. I do like the 24 though because while it adds a little overall trailer weight, it gives you some room to move the car forward or rearward to get the tongue weight optimized.

Now that I`ve decided what I want the problem is finding one. Local dealers have extremely limited stock and shortest delivery time if I order is 6 weeks. I don`t need it right away so if I can`t find anything in the next few days I`ll just go ahead and order one, at least I can spec it out exactly how I want.

I have noticed the best prices are on trailers built in Georgia and Texas. Can't speak of quality but the prices are drastically lower for some reason. California sold trailers are crazy high.
