I have driven the convertible Dakota , a friend is a vert fanatic & owns one , they were nothing special for power & to me made no sense , a covertible pick up , Why ??

I've been looking for one of these cars for years and years.

There is a guy here in Western Washington that has 2 I believe. One was missing a quarter panel but one is complete.

For whatever reason there seems to be a few of the those Dakota verts around, a buddy has one now that I think he is in the process of selling. Neat truck I guess but never really did much for me, I'd have to agree that not much sense in a convertible pickup, but I am sure someone loves them.

The later Shelby Dakota with a 360 was cool, basically a Dakota RT but white and blue.

Dodge marketed a turbo charged Caravan in the 1980's. A 2.5 turbo four engine with 150hp.

Wait a minute. Despite its K-platform roots, the Dodge Caravan isn't exactly an econobox, so what's it doing on this list? The answer to that question is that it was briefly offered with a 2.5L Turbo I four-cylinder engine that was good for 150hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. With a five-speed manual in the equation, the Caravan Turbo was perhaps the ultimate outlier in the world of family haulers, and had a reputation for responding well to modifications from that tiny slice of the van world who cared more about ETs than third-row seating.

Very few of these vans survived to the current era, with the last models being produced in 1991. Incredible sleepers, they're proof positive of the culture of innovation that existed at Chrysler even during an era when budgets were tight.
