Starting thinking about older Mopars that we do not think about on a regular basis.

The Chrysler 300 Letter cars (first series); the last one produced was the 1963 300 J.  It is pretty rare with only 400 made.  Hardtops only, the cars came with a 413's and ram induction with dual 4-barrel carbs and 390 hp. The car had a top speed of 142 mph in 1963. Pretty amazing when you think about it.  These were special, powerful Mopars that you do not hear a lot about. Rare!

I like the looks of the late 50s cars better but the early 60s Chryslers were high performance cars for sure !

IRON MAN

1957 Chrysler 300C...Best looking tailfins ever. 392 HEMI 390 hp with 10:1 compression, 3 spd torqueFlite or manual transmission. BTW for sale on SF Bay CL @ $50K.

They're awesome. $50k seems fair although I am not following them at all.

There was a guy nearby in Cornwall that used to Own a Chrysler dealer, Notman was his name I believe. He had a letter car that was so well restored it was phenomenal. I always take a good long look at it. I see it around at car shows from time to time but it looks like a dream to drive.

There are a ton of mopars that don't get the respect they deserve.
Someday I will have a J0b.

Agreed: Gm and Ford basically hid from the 300's, they had nothing with the style or performance to match them. Pontiac got on board shortly after but they still weren't in the same class as the bigger 300's.

There was this 1961 Fury 2dr local that was for sale. After driving by it for months I stopped one day to check it out. I can't say I'm a fan on the early 60's Mopars but this car was so damn ugly somehow it was cute, kinda like a bull dog? It was a southern USA car the owner explained. No one seemed to want it. I had visions of leaving the body as is ( patina) and making a drag week car out of it. But as the same with everyone else.... there is only so much time and money and storage space available...... :bye:

These cars with the D500 pkg were fast too

I will probably get to see the '57 Chry 300C tomorrow at Goodguys Pleasanton. Danville is only ` 20 miles north. The turn table in this 300C is a real hoot!
