There are already air cleanliness laws in various areas outlawing the use of fireplaces on poor air quality days. We have other laws in some areas about how big your soda can be or whether you can have a straw without asking.

It's really not that hard to imagine these same brilliant leaders coming up with laws that prohibit the sale of unhealthy foods or a requirement that we all exercise. The logical argument being that poor health increases health insurance expenses which hit us all therefore society has an interest in regulating the things that affect your health in greater detail. Where there is a law or regulation, there is a way for someone to profit in some way and I'm certain that these scumbag lawmakers have found ways to benefit from every law they pass. It's all nanny state nonsense and many California citizens want that.

Newark right near where I live has been saying this since the beginning of the year.

I'd like to think folks in California are crazy and it's a localized phenomena.
Citizens keep re-electing nut jobs.

Bigger picture as goes California so goes Oregon and Washington eventually.

Maybe I'm the crazy one.

I've never voted for any of the crap coming down the pipe, I vote in every election but I don't think a single thing I've voted for has passed in over twenty years... For that matter nothing I've voted against has failed to pass either....
Just remember it's the "Land of the Free"  sure glad I served my time in the Military to keep our country free, Didn't realize it was so we could let some politicians take our rights away & give our country away while they were at it...  The only "Free" these days is entitlements for people who've never contributed a damn thing to this country....  Sorry Rant Off....

A friend of mine describes this phenomenon as all of us being frogs in a pot of water slowly coming to boil. A frog dropped into hot water will recognize the danger and try to flee but if the heat is applied slowly enough, it acclimates slowly until the heat eventually kills it, the frog being to stupid to realize the slow and gradual change is actually harmful to it. Once he explained this to me, I've never looked at my fellow Californians the same way again.

I truly believe most California voters see other state politicians as bad except for their own local reps. Those people are good and must be because they voted for them and would never want to acknowledge they chose a bad person to vote for.

Vote them all out. Never vote for an incumbent no matter how awesome they are. They are all scum.

With all the tree hugging going on...

Rebuilding and older model car (existing vehicle).... isn't that the ultimate in re-cycling?
Producing a new vehicle uses more energy and creates more "hazardous" environmental issues than fixing an old vehicle already out in consumer hands....correct?
This "green" movement has some pluses, but I often notice only for their convenience. Marketing is a strong and powerful venue. This sucks!

An awful lot of the "Green Movement" is about taking the "Green" from your pocket and "Moving it" to their pockets...  :alan2cents:

I lean left and I find this "law" completely stupid.

Don't throw everyone in the same boat.

Harsher penalties for people that "dispose" incorrectly is the more responsible way to enforce change. I "suspect" that is why this law is in place.  But not allowing people to wrench? Really? It's not compatible with one prerogative that I actually like from CA, which is right to repair. That's a very good thing, but this doesn't seem to agree with that.

I moved from Mass to New Hampshire, the "Live free or Die" state, a state where we  still have have no helmet law here. The problem is more and more "Massholes" are moving up here and turning this once conservative state is going more liberal. I am somewhere in the middle political wise and in certain areas don`t think we do enough to protect the envirement but some of these laws are ridiculous. Don`t make laws that hurt the rest of us because of a few, enforce the laws you already have.

Car guys and "normal' people's rights have been eroded for decades. I honestly think the problem is that average people are busy working and keep sucking it up and moving on. A lot of radicals don't work, have nothing but time on their hands and spend that time protesting and lobbying to take normal people's rights away. That's my theory anyway.

I think liberals don't really see themselves as liberal. They see themselves as very moderate middle of the road types who carefully consider both sides before deciding. I know several of these people including my mother in law. As you talk to them, they clearly identify as extreme left in action but they claim they are conservative in nature. They support this crap and vote for it but then complain about it, move, and take their infected way of thinking elsewhere. I know tons of "independent " voters who have never voted for a conservative. They all talk about being more enlightened on the topics, examining all the sides of an issue, and then spout CNN talking points word for word.
