This was our late cat Phat Kitty. He was a rescue who we got from a local shelter. No one wanted him because he was FIV positive and a former feral "catch, neuter and release" alpha male. The greatest cat ever. He lived to be 14 with FIV and eventually passed from liver cancer.

He was truly massive. His favorite game was "belly rub roulette". He would roll over on his back and entice you to scratch his stomach. The number of scratches he would permit before turning into a bear trap ranged from 1 to 128 (the record). He loved playing that game.

This photo shows his majestic overlordfullship, as he reigned over our poor dog.

And in case the photo looks familiar, here's what you were thinking of...

I'll add a few pics.

These two cars are my current indoor cats.
Black one is Jedi.  He got his name because he was the only kitten to escape his litter.  The owners dog killed all the kittens and he got out of the home some how.  Should have still been milk feeding when he got out.
Took me two weeks to catch him in my back yard.

The tabby is a female named Lagartha.  She came from somewhere as a kitten to my back yard also. I believe her mother died by car.  She showed up just after I found the cat in the street and moved her to the side of my yard so whoever the owner was could find her.  Lagertha was being beat up by the neighborhood cats and my wife finally coaxed her out of her hiding places.  Now she's a great cat!

Hanging with the deer's in my front yard.
Jedi with my other cat that doesn't move, thank goodness.

Josh, did you see this one?

That's quite the video. All due to the cubs in my opinion.

I've actually walked up on a mother and 4 cubs.  I was about 20 feet away from a deer she had just killed.
Cubs ran left and she stepped right. We specifically followed her to the right so as to calm her that we weren't after her cubs.
She stopped and turned and stared at us at about 20 yards.  My buddy, who's been hunting longer than I have been alive, asked me what we should do.  I drew my bow and told him to do the same.  We walked after her and she repeated her walking, stopping and turning to make sure we were following her.  After about 200 yards she disappeared and we went about our elk hunting.

I've had three other encounters with females and cubs.  None as intense as that one.

Females get to about 125 pounds tops.  There is a great video out there of a full grown female killing a cow elk, About 450 to 500 pounds.  She drug the animal 1 mile up a mountain and pulled it into a low lying tree.
Cougars are absolutely the king of the jungle.  But as the video suggests, lions really don't want anything to do with humans.  After she was sure he was far enough away she went back to get her kids.

Every time any of you have walked in the mountains, plains and most woods, you have been looked at by a lion.  They simply don't want you to look at them.

Incredible animals.  I am in awe of the species.  Really, cats in general.

Thanks for posting the video @Brads70
