Sorry for your loss.  :andyangel:

To me my dogs were always part of the family not just pets. It's tough when you lose one I know.

Sorry Brad; Our cat is 22 and I've been prepping myself for about 12 years for his passing but I know there is no prep for it. I've lost a few dogs and it was always unexpected which is actually better.

Sorry to hear about your loss Brad.   There's no easy way to say goodbye to a beloved pet, regardless of their age.

I have used the phrase 'it's just a (cat/dog)' in the past when people spent a lot of $$ on their pet. I've never been in the position where spending the $$ was required (lucky I guess?)
We have two Husky/Shepard mix northern rescue dogs and we live in a rural area. They never want to be inside more than a few minutes so I built them a 24'x 16' pen beside the house. Everyday we let them out after work to run around - we have a 20 acre piece of property.
Recently, one of my two dogs went missing. We let them out of the pen as usual for a run, except one ran into the bush and never came back. For a couple weeks we drove around the area, walked trails and enlisted family and friends to do the same but he has not been found.
I have heard people needing 'closure' before but never really fully understood what that meant.
I do now. I don't know what happened to my puppy - (He was 12 years old) Think about it often.
I don't use the phrase "It's just a dog" anymore.
Rowdy, the missing dog is the one closest to the rear tire.

Wow that would be so tough. My condolences. I can't even imagine.... My other/older dog has gone missing overnight twice now. Spent the night wandering around the neighbourhood looking/calling him. What a heart wrenching experience , your mind or at least mine does wanders to the worst possible scenarios.. luckily for me mine was in the pound.... :('

I feel for you guys. Coming up on 2 years I had to put my golden (rumble) down. We ,more I, broke down and got another one(copper). Although it doesn't make forgetting about the other one any easier, but it does give you that man's best friend back, always so happy too see you, pisses ya off one minute and the next he's trying to get on your lap the next. I already can't go anywhere without the new pup trailing right behind me. Along with the kids too. I even call the new pup by the old ones name all the time. First picture is when we picked copper up and the last couple are within the last couple weeks.

Copper appears to fit in very well.. :haha: They have a way of doing that....  Looks like a great pup....  Sorry you lost Rumble, always hard....

And Coppers goal in life isn't to make you forget about Rumble, you'll carry him in your heart forever... Copper is just another great friend..

Very well said and very true. Yes he fits in well, my oldest son has a love hate relationship with him right now, but soon will be best buds

We have a "Cooper" as well love him to pieces but he is getting up there now at 13 going blind and deaf :(', Pup that just passed was Wilson , we realized later it seems we name our Dogs after sports equipment for some strange reason?  It wasn't on purpose.  Picture is Cooper and Wilson as a pup. ( Father and son)

How's Cooper doing since his son has been gone?
