Finally heard from the dealership on my Ram that didn`t want to make the trip to Carlisle and as I suspected the transmission is toast, hydraulic issue they said. Worse news is the no longer rebuild them but just replace them and there is a back order with no ETA, service guy said it could be a couple months as there are 1000 units on the wait list. I am now out of a vehicle and the Barracuda is my only daily driver, luckily it`s summer time. I may be able to plead with Chrysler to give me a loaner or rental as the vehicle is non-op, will hopefully know more on that by Friday.

Well that sucks. Is it a warrantee issue? If not what about a reputable rebuilder?

Thanks to my smart wife as she always makes us buy the extended warranty it is covered, only drawback it is thru the dealer only since it is  Mopar warranty. I could have it rebuilt by another shop but I would have to pay $5-6000 myself.

My nephew has a 2020 1500 like mine and his has been in the shop for weeks for blown exhaust manifold gaskets and the trans was slipping. He's in the same boat, waiting for a replacement unit. Good luck.

I have a friend that has a garage he said he works on more newer cars and trucks than older ones, he said all manufacturers are using cheap Chinese parts to keep prices down about 2017 and up , he has a 2020 Tundra he's had over a year in his garage and can't get parts for

Can you get one from a wrecker to at least drive it for a while ?
AT least you would have a spare .

A lot of manufacturers are having supply issues, not sure where the parts are coming from but I`m sure a  lot are made overseas. We really need to tarrif anything made outside the US to bring manufacturing back here.

Ask them if the new one is using the same parts or did they re-design it because if they use the same parts, it'll fail next time, but it won't be under warranty.. I had that happen with my dodge caliber manual transmission, the bearings went and they replaced them with the same Chinese bearings. Second time it went down wasn't under warranty.

My 2020 Ram 1/2 had a transmission servo screw up and locked tranny into low range last year. Took 6 weeks to get new one. Ram gave me 3 free oil changes to be used in 3 years. woopeee

They aren't "Mopar" any more. Fiat "upgraded" the radio in my 18 resulting in me waiting about 3 months for a new one (yeah they don't seem to stock F-all for these trucks), Replaced my cracked exhaust manifolds at 50,000 miles, now looking forward to replacing the camshaft and lifters, then worry about the automatic trans.
I drive a Chevy at work, it's a POS, ugly as a mud fence, crappy interior, horrible electronics but the mechanical has been good so far on it at 70,000 miles. I might try a Ford when it comes time if that 5 litre gasser seems to have no traditional Ford issues.
No more Fiat crap for me. You can't be selling an $80k product and then leave the customer hanging after the sale with a product that can't function for months.

On many levels, I agree with the comment above about bringing back manufacturing to the U.S.   Unfortunately, the attempt to re-shore the manufacturing of Craftsman tools will not be one the success stories.   There are a couple of different recent articles that surround the closure of a plant in Ft Worth, TX that had opened in 2022.   There apparently was an attempt to use a high degree of automation to make hand tools that were cost competitive with the stuff made overseas, but they couldn't get the machines to do what skilled hands had once done.

It won't be easy, but I hope other companies keep trying.

It`s not just Ram/Fiat, it`s many manufacturers, I`ve heard stories about brand new Vovlos that can`t be driven waiting on parts for up to two years and same issues with Toyotas and others. I had an `04 2500 I bought used with 14k, drove it to 120k with only issues being serpentine belt and water pump, sold it in `14 with the original battery still starting in single digit temps. I bougth my `17 1500 new and traded it in with 76k with nothing but oil changes and new tires done. My `18 I bought used and now has 78k and this is the first issue I have had with it - I`d say that is pretty good reliabilty. My wifes `19 Jeep has 98k on it and like my `17 ZERO issues with it.
