Man, I'm really sorry to hear about your car getting damaged.   Glad you can put a bit of a positive spin on the situation.   Do you still have your other tires and wheels to use?  Not ideal for sure.
Thanks, yes but they are on the Javelin now. I could swap them out though?  It would look goofy with the fender flairs though.

oh man that sucks.

so he DROVE into you! Before I saw the pics I assumed he backed into you.  How did he not see you???

Jason

Yes drove into me then screamed that it was my fault somehow?  :looney:
In my world when someone has their right hand turn signal on it usually means they intend on turning right? :))
I almost got all the way in before he hit me?  Insurance says I get to pay $1000 deductible?  That seems not right to me, was not my fault?

If you don't want to pay deducible, you have to go through his insurance. But in Canada, may be different.

I would suggest Classic Car insurance in future. They usually have very low or zero deductible.

I'm with Hagerty?

They have $1000 deductible?

I better check my Hagerty policy....

.... here's mine:

I think what the difference is we have this thing called no fault insurance, so you are out a deductible no matter what.  :looney:  Socialism of sorts....

Okay, I hope Hagerty treats you right, I just signed on with them for my first time...not as cheap as I was hoping  :bigmoney: but nothing is these days...

No fault insurance sucks, one of the many reasons I live in New Hampshire and will never live in Massachusetts again. I dumped Hagerty a while back but I know my deductible was very low or zero.

A quick search turned up this...
https://www.fsco.gov.on.ca/en/auto/brochures/pages/brochure_claims.aspx#responsible
If you are 100 per cent at-fault for the accident, the cost of repairing your vehicle will not be covered under your Direct Compensation - Property Damage Coverage. But if you purchased the optional Collision or Upset Coverage with a $500 deductible, your insurance company will pay $6,500 towards repairing your vehicle ($7,000 less your $500 deductible). This means you will be responsible for paying your $500 Collision or Upset deductible.

On the other hand, if the other driver can be identified, is insured, and is found to be totally at-fault for the accident, your insurance company will cover the total cost of repairing your vehicle ($7,000) under your Direct Compensation- Property Damage Coverage, so long as your Direct Compensation - Property Damage deductible is zero dollars.

So sorry to see that your baby got damaged.  It just seem illogical for you to shovel out the $1000 deductible when you are not at fault.  Maybe that's the way in Ontario?  Even classic car policies?

That just sucks and sucks big time!  There are more of these young punks out there every day.  I live near a High School & a YMCA and have a security camera watching the corner by my house.  Almost every day I see some teenager almost cause an accident when school gets out.  Today I checked my video and watched a nice Dodge Ram going East and 10 seconds later watched a red car going north blow threw the stop sign & intersection at a high rate of speed.  If that pickup was 8 seconds slower he would have been toast.

Glad it was not any worst then it was.

I posted an unlisted video of the close call.  You can see what I mean.

Even if there was a clear shot of a license plate, the local police won't do anything unless they witness it first hand.   However, it may be enough to justify the department assigning that intersection some extra patrols, and have a unit sit parked along the curb watching the intersection.   Especially at "rush hour"

Yep, that's horrible.

On the bright side.  Get a rim for that back side there, Perhaps a new spare for later and you can still cruise it around.  Yeah, it has a dent but it still looks cooler than most of the other cars you will see.  I drive beaters with dents everywhere, just gives it character.  If not only for a short period of time.

RUNCHARGER

Sorry to see that Brad. I too would drive it this season with the battle scar, then work it over after the season is over. We have no fault insurance here now as well. I heard of 2 people having their parked cars hit and having to pay their deductible to get them fixed, socialism at it's finest.

Rim manufacture emailed me back, they want me to send them the rim to repair it. I'm not so keen on that as by the time I pay to send it there( California and I'm in Ontario, Canada)  and back and deal with customs duty etc... I might as well just buy a new wheel? $600 USD, That and they will have to remove material to blend things out making it thinner. With the horrible roads we have here I'm not a fan of making them weaker by removing material? I'm thinking potholes are tough enough on wheels without making them thinner?
