Anyone seen hexavalent and trivalent side by side?

I think if it's not that big a difference, why not have something safe for the people who work at the chrome shops?

We demand shiny bits and care less about the health of the workers who gave you those shiny bits?

From what I read they are "banning" the hexavalent chromium which is just a part of the chrome process. What they are too dumb to realize is that will just put chrome shops out of business in this country and then we will all just buy items made overseas where thee are a lot less restrictions and enviromental regulations. I don`t think that will really helping the health of people or the enviroment in the long run but that is the short sightedness of the tree huggers/government control herd.

Yes, I worked in a metal shop and saw first hand both hex and tri side by side and there is a very noticeable difference in color. As I said in an earlier post our vendors had numerous issues with tri at first but have since refined the process although it still not as good as the hexavalent. If you red the article the chrome shop guys mention the big issue for them is the color difference which effects the look of the chrome. There are many things that are unhealthy in work enviroments which is why there is PPE.

Check out what our local powder coat shop is playing with. It's actually a high gloss silver. He admits it lays out nicely on round and curved areas but tends to orange peel a bit on flat areas. Blow up the pic. This young family guy has really impressed me. His shop is in a nice outbuilding at his country home and he teaches welding at the local junior college. Super honest, professional and reasonable. Not exactly concours stuff, but I'd say he's onto something.

Maybe off topic, but is it possible to do DIY chrome with electrolysis?
