We have laws against driving while talking on a cell phone... :haha:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....
Check out my web site ....  Alan Gallant Automotive Restoration

Lesson here is that it's hard to be low profile when illegally chatting on a cell phone while driving a cool convertible!  :haha:
Do the brake lights/turn signals work, always pays to do a walk around light check on a vehicle.  Nice cars seem to be magnets for bad drivers to run into, don't help them out by not having working brake lights.  Sometimes the actuator on the brake pedal needs adjusting, pretty easy job.
BTW, good to see the car made it out there safely!  :woohoo:

If you look closely in the pic you can see the brake lights working.

But notice how hard it is to see some older cars' brake lights compared to new.

Also notice how younger people are trained by habit to see the high 3rd brake light.

Even older people naturally get used to seeing the 3rd/high light.

You just don't see that many cars without 3rd lights and dim small brake lights.

I'm noticing more and more hot rods these days with a 3rd brake light installed in the rear window.
Good idea.
I suppose a temporary 3rd light could be rigged up to be stuck to the decklid of a convertible while driving it.  I'd be inclined to just drive defensively trying to keep others off my rear.  But there is a thread on Moparts about a classic getting rear ended that makes you think, and also has some good ideas to make the brake lights brighter.

You busted me!  I guess I ain't going no where in that car low profile.

It got delivered just after lunch so I took it out to AAA to get the registration finished up. I was in the day before but they need to inspect the VIN since Connecticut doesn't have titles. So it checked good except they hassled me about the missing door vin sticker. Now I have to do that so I can finish it up.

The car drives fantastic. Like a soft cushy Cadillac going down the freeway. Now that it's mine, I got to stomp on it a bit and the power is better than I expected for a 318. I have no complaints with how it drives, shifts, brakes, etc.

When the guy was backing it out of the trailer, the brake lights worked fine. Wife followed me home so I could do a quick check of things before taking it back out. She noticed a brake light was out but when I checked the bulb, it started working again so maybe a poor ground?

My plan is to go over everything on the car for safety reasons. Change fluids whether it needs it or not. Lube everything that requires it. I might even switch the points out for a pertronix but that can wait. The car just purrs right now.

Car looks great! Those wheels and tires look perfect on it, kind of reaffirms the originality look.

Door vin sticker ?!!??

That's such BS   AAA is really particular with their VIN verifications. And a little arbitrary.

They get painted over and door replaced all the time.

I didn't think that was an official location on that year.

They referred to it as the federal safety sticker and showed me on the form where the box should be checked. Apparently it certifies that it is federally compliant. I was shaking my head the whole time. I tried convincing him I'd put the sticker on later but he wasn't having any part of it. I explained that anyone can buy them online and slap it on the car so it really means nothing but rules are rules.  The sticker means zero after fifty years. I can register a Ford model A death bucket with a supercharger but this car just isn't safe enough without the vin sticker.

Ah, whatever...I'll just order one in the morning.

He's on my list of stuff to do tomorrow. It's inconvenient, that's all. I actually planned to eventually get the missing sticker as one of the finishing touches of the car. The car was nicely restored over ten years ago but there's a couple minor mistakes and a couple things overlooked like this sticker. In the meantime, I started the reg, got a temporary operating permit, paid my fees. I'm hoping I can insure it without license plates. If not, I'll have to keep it garaged until the registration is finalized in a couple weeks.

Thanks, I've shown it to several friends and coworkers now and everyone seems to like those tires so it must just be me. They are over ten years old and I expected to see cracks in the sidewalls but they look like new.

I think it just stands out because every other one has rally wheels or dog dishes on it.
