I decided to search out a Challenger convertible after brainstorming the reasons I didn't like driving my T/A much except for an occasional spirited run through the gears on an open road near me where there was no place for cops to hide.
Best decision I ever made in my life, you can have my vert when you pry the slapstick shifter out of my cold dead fingers!
Sometimes a hardtop is nice though, like when it's chilly out, or for a road trip on highways.
One of each might be best then.  But ultimately I'd decide on which car I felt most invested in and attached to if I had to make the choice.
I've become quite a convertible fan, my shopping list for when I have the space and budget for more cars has a Coronet R/T vert and V code Challenger vert at the top.
Good luck with your decision and car hunt!  :bigthumb:

Sold my U code (440) R/T SE hardtop many years ago, haven't missed it.... Sold my /6 Challenger convertible that I'd cloned into a 340 back in 95, still miss it, the car was fun, drove it everywhere, parked it anywhere......

Had my R/T vert since 95 & while I drive it allot (Over 95K miles) it's still not as fun as the /6 vert cause I have to be more aware of everyone & everything.....

I have a 68 Coronet R/T that I hope to finish someday & while I came close to buying a V code Challenger Vert many years ago (JS27V0B1000027) at this point I honestly don't want one cause I'd never be comfortable driving it....

Thank you all for your input.  I know exactly what you mean when you have an expensive car and are afraid to drive it.  That's why I sold my #s match U code 4 spd 1970 Challenger.  It would never leave the garage.  That's one of the reasons why I built the Barracuda.  I'm not concerned about driving it since it's not a high $$ #s car.  I like to drive my R/T for the same reasons!

I guess a lot of the decision will depend on what convertible I find that will get me to pull the trigger.  We'll see what the car I'm going to look at this weekend has to offer.  Here is a pic of it and I'm sure some of you saw it listed in other places already.

I would sell the car that has the least issues. I sold my HemiCuda because it's floors had been coated with that POR15 crap before I got it. I hate driving a car when I wonder when issues might rear their head down the road. I also like variety, I owned two E-bodies at once and it is sort of like driving the same car only different colours. More fun to have a B-body and an E-body  then you notice the cars different traits.

I personally think you should keep the A body . Its nice to change things up once an awhile , as they say variety is the spice of life

Saw the 'vert over the weekend.  Needed a bit more work than I anticipated.  Needs a new top, the interior redone, some rust repair in the good hinge area, the bumpers rechromed, mouldings replaced, suspension work, the 318 runs a little rough, exhaust is recent but I don't like the tone, and a lot of detailing.  Also had NOS replacement fenders put on it at some point and they are not a matched set.
And that is just what I see now.  So we all know that as soon as you start tearing into it, you'll find a lot more.  So for 45K, I am not sure if I will but this one.  Personally, I don't see it worth more than 30-35K tops.  But I won't insult the owner with a terrible low ball offer.

I think you owe it to the guy to at least tell him exactly what you're thinking and don't leave him hanging. Either email him or phone him and tell him exactly what you just posted. Don't lowball him with a $30K-$35K offer, but simply tell him that's what you think it's worth....he may think you're on crack and hang up the phone, or that might just be the best offer he gets and he might call you back on it...Then you have to be prepared to put your money where your mouth is....or just tell him you bought another car in the mean time
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

I won't leave him hanging.  That would be rude in my book.

Yes: I think you are dead on with your thinking there. Just think, if you don't put out any more money on an unknown you already have an E-body and a convertible!

Another convertible has come to light and one that I have been trying to get for a LONG time.  So both of my cars are going up for sale.  I already listed the R/T SE here and in a few other places.  Would it be a violation of the rules to post an A-Body for sale here?

If you can swing it, try to buy that one before someone else does if your REALLY want it. Then sell your other two to pay off the loan.

He's not listing it for sale.  It's a private deal between the seller and me so there is no rush.

What is your price range ? $45,000 for a 318 car that needed work..Not that far off from a real JS27 that is ready to put the top down and go cruising--LOL-Seriously wishing you the best of luck on your hunt--they are great cars and you will enjoy the hell out of it no doubt.
