Not e-body related but... I was in the parts store a couple days ago grumbling because things weren't going well when another customer mentioned his family was living in a hotel because their house was destroyed in an EF4 tornado that went through the area in May.     ::) Suddenly the problems with the car didn't seem so significant. A bad day working on an e-body is better than a good day.... 8)

Exactly. Along the same lines, a bad day at the track beats a good day at work.

I just did this the other night with my buddy who is about to retire.  He has a new truck, a new camper trailer, motorcycle, sport car, beautiful house and a nice GF and good family.  It was nice to revel in his success but not take it for granted.  He has worked his ass off for all of these things and has taken care of many people throughout his life.  Great guy.  Great friend.  I am so happy for him.

I grew up with not much extra money in the house.  I got free lunch at school.  My Mom worked hard to keep us fed and safe.  I don't forget.  And I don't take for granted my success in life now.  It keeps me grounded.

Remember, it can all be taken away in a second.  It is just stuff.  Wants are just that.  Needs are important.  Having food, shelter, and love are the best gifts we can have.  Many people in this world struggle for that every day while we drive our extravagant cars.

Everything in life can change in a matter of seconds. I have seen it many times in my life and it has happened t me 1 1/2 years ago when I had my heart attack. I can no longer do 1/2 the stuff I use to do but I now take the time to watch the sun set-hear the birds sing and spend time with my wife.

This incident took place last month and occurred directly across the street from my house. That day I came home from work before 4 and turned around to run a quick errand in the neighborhood. By 4:30 I was back, then out again to the "Y" just a couple of blocks away and the street was absolutely clear. I returned at 5:30 to this scene. A dozen or so Law Enforcement vehicles along with Ambulance and FD. Not to mention the one man camera crew filming from the middle of my front yard.

The short of it was that the juveniles thought the house looked unoccupied and my neighbor who doesn't own a vehicle knew her s-I-l was coming soon. Thinking it was him, she opened the back door just in time to surprise them. Thankfully, the 9mm bullet only shattered her femur. She's on crutches for now with a steel rod and on the mend.

The thing is, my driveway was empty. Even better, no one was home so that just a turn of the head would have led to a much different outcome.

Maybe there would have been a different outcome but we've moved on - although somewhat more warily.

Just a mild perspective adjustment.

My wife taped this small sign next to our kitchen sink, so we both get a daily reminder.

True that. Lots of people have too much, but even more have not enough.
