Hello Everyone,

Like the title says....XXX Root Beer in Issaquah, Washington closed a couple of days ago after 55 years of being a drive in restaurant geared towards the car culture. Here is a link to a short news story from a local Seattle TV station

For the last 24 years XXX was owned by a car collector & hell of a great guy Jose, he ran it with his children who also loved the car hobby. Jose gave each one of his kids a classic car & even had those cars on the T-shirts  that he sold at the restaurant. He had weekly car cruises on Saturday night & car shows once a month or so. The inside of XXX is loaded with memorabilia, including 2 complete engines (a Flathead Ford V-8 & an early 60's 409 Chevy)

I had the extreme pleasure to meet Jose when he purchased this beautiful Buick Woodie Wagon from a friend of mine locally (Tim Morsher) & I was honored to transport it from here in Northern Ohio all the way out to Issaquah last year. Jose met me at XXX, filmed me unloading his car out of my trailer in front of many car folks/customers/family. Jose is one of the nicest guys I have ever met & when I arrived he treated me like a king. He insisted on fixing me up with one of his signature HUGE burgers (which was delicious) fries & of course a big mug of home made root beer float. He even videoed me trying to eat it!

At 79 years old Jose is retiring, but I am sure he will still be cruising his cars & going to shows as well! Thank you Jose for your dedication to our great hobby!

God Bless

Bill

Yep, sad to see XXX go, but good for Jose to retire.  As for car shows, during the Spring/Summer months, there was a car show at this venue every Sunday till Sept.  Then the last one for the year was supposed to be Dec 3 called the Jingle Bell Kids Toy Drive Cruze.  People may show up for that and find out it is closed.
