SE Wisconsin (and most likely elsewhere) seem's to have this - Stop sign / light optional, merely a suggestion, only if you feel like it craze going on. I've come very close more than once myself. Right of way means nothing.... Be aware my friends be aware

OUCH!!! What happened to the driver, I can only hope there were no passengers.  :console:

Cell phone use AND a lot of new fancy technology in the dash of new vehicles is very dangerous.  Touch screen radios should be outlawed IMO.  It takes way too much time to find a station or adjust the temp controls.  I can change the station without even looking at a traditional radio.  I think this is a lot of the problem.

I don't own a cell phone, so my opinion doesn't really matter....but you'd think that blue tooth connection should be mandatory in all new cars otherwise the car has a blocker device so a handheld cell phone wont work while the car is moving ... Your car should be able to read incoming text and send dictated text outbound, etc...sounds simple enough...
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Agreed. I was thinking of that yesterday as I was driving. On my 15 Challenger it's three steps on the touch screen to change the fan speed when I have the screen on radio setting. Older vehicles it's one step and you can do it by feel.

I do a lot of in town driving for my business and I see this everyday. Not a day goes by with out almost being in a wreck due to people running stop signs or red lights. You need to be super defensive and trust no one.  People just don't pay attention and are in such a rush.

The majority of offenders I've seen personally have been the under 30, mostly minority crowd. Occasionally with flashing lights behind them for some reason.

Altho I do agree with the previous comments - Have you ever tried to drive and work FORD's INSYNC SYSTEM... I've got $100 bill says Bill Gates can't do it. Way over complicated systems in many newer cars

But that's not my point here - there is a blatant disregard around here for BASIC TRAFFIC LAWS. The driver of this van was not the offender. But it sure ruined his weekend. Fortunately this Oddessy was only driver occupied.

Some day when I have time (2 years past my death most likely) I will run my dash cam for a week. I can then give you a taste of what I see almost daily.

So, my new work truck(Chevy Colorado) has a touch screen. After a few days driving it, and having things set how I wanted, I didn't pay too much attention to it. Well, I start driving somewhere and happened to look over at it and there was some message on it. Made me look away from my driving to see WTF. Turns out it was a message about distracted driving being dangerous!!!

Wow just driving home today from work and on the highway witnessed at least 3 driver texting/ messing with their phone.  I could tell they were occupied while driving and was anxious to get away from them and get home . . Certainly a problem . .
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

Oh yeah. It doesn't get more blatant disregard than passing stopped school buses. There seems to be a rash of this going on near me (Hamilton). And, we only hear of the ones caught on dashcams.

I pulled this child from the rear seat of a head-on, caused by a texting driver. I tried for twenty minutes to revive her. She didn't make it. Her 5 year old friend was in the back seat with her and is now a paraplegic. I have no other words than "be constantly aware at 360 degrees and leave yourself an out". I may never get over this.

Thank you SO much for doing what could be done to try to revive this child! As a father, I can't imagine losing a child like that and I'm afraid that unless I was also dead, my first action after realizing what happened would be to go over and end that individual's life, just like he or she did my baby's. I truly don't know how you do it and I completely understand your problem getting over it. Good night sweet child, and may flights of angels carry thee to thy rest.  :(
