Hi All,
I'll chip one in. As some has learned, I am building (pro touring) my first Mopar, and learning more than I could have ever thought. I have built streetrods since I was a kid, even professionally for a time.
Here's the last car I built. It's an all steel 1933 Ford 3w coupe. It's in a museum in Detroit now, where it probably should be.

The start of my break from Mopars project. I was going to power it with a 360 but knowing how I hate non mopar engines in Mopars I am going to 302 it. It will be full fendered and basic. The body is very good in spite of the surface rust.
Last shot is stolen but it is how I want mine to basically look.
Should be a fun project (despite the Furd... aspect).

Do you have the 302. ?
Yeah: I found a 90 injected, roller cam 302 with an AOD and an 8 inch with rear disc brakes, just have to go get it. I wanted an injected and roller cam engine so hopefully I won't have to rebuild it. I will convert to a aluminum dual plane with a 600 Holley and Cobra valve covers for the look I want though. I wanted to put a T5 in it but there isn't a lot of room in it for my feet and legs (clutch pedal) as it is. Brookville offers a stretched cab but I'm thinking I might stretch the doors to gain a bit of room instead.
I remember why I'm not crazy about Ferds though. You have to research very carefully before ordering any power train parts, Ferd like to change stuff about every 5 minutes. That's why I've always loved Mopars, they're easy to put together and they keep the basics simple.

Completely unrelated to e-bodies... But this is a bike that I built custom about 8 years ago.
It started out when I bought a gas tank and decided to learn to weld, so I cut it up to make a hi-mount "frisco" style tank. That went well, so I started buying up the pieces to build a bike. When it came to the engine, I originally bought a shovelhead but I could not get my hands on a set of seals for it and I grew impatient. So I sold the shovel and bought a crated 1340 EVO motor which turned out to be the best idea I had as these are great motors.
Everything on this bike was a labor of love, and I did it all myself except for the seat... My good friend Christian @ Xianleather did the seat. The bike is a treat to ride, but it's a rigid so I had to put good HD springs on the seat to absorb the road as much as I could.

Amen, brother, amen! That thing looks like a fatality just waiting to happen as it breaks in two. Hopefully, neither of the pieces hits anybody else! The thing that really concerns me is the fact that as these things get wilder and wilder, there'll be some weenie in government who'll push for legislation that'll stop not only these guys, but others who seek to modify their car in any fashion. It was pretty cool. I got my butt handed to me by an SD455 Trans Am though so I got back into a Mopar.
I bought a 1973 SD 455 trans am , pulled the 4 speed and scrapped the rest.( It was pretty rotten mid 80's) Maybe it was the one that beat you? :))
Opps , I think those are 100k + now
Ya so I hear..... it was black said 455SD on the shaker , floors and frame rail were rotted right out of it. At the time I figured boat anchor because I had heard they blew up if you revved them to 6k. I think it's safe to say those of us who were rummaging around the scrap yards in the 70's- 80's let a lot of stuff slip by our fingers that is worth some cash now....
For sure: I remember wandering the B-body section at our local autowreckers and they were stacked 3 high. Probably about1 in 5 was a musclecar variant. I think the one Pontiac I would like to own would be a 70.5 455HO or a later 455SD.
73 SD 455 4 spd is the only one to own , best looking year & best ever Pontiac engine

Hey! Don't be a wing hater! Looks good on that car. They sure are fun to drive with.
Looks like one that "Dayclona" did :dunno:
Oh: I hate the antennae, wheels, exhaust tips hanging on the ground and the wing. So it's not just the wing, and I am a lover of 71 Chargers. The FJ6 looks good on there though.
Wow. those exhaust tips do look like crap. hadn't noticed that. And once you pointed it out the wheels are weird.
Isn't the antenna how most are mounted?
It is but it has a spring thingy on the bottom. I'm glad the guy painted it and brought it back to life, don't get me wrong. This is my old one and this is how an old guy like me likes them to look.

agreed...photoshopped. Look at the center section of the rear-end, it is all squished, and the tires do not look the same size.

That 62 wears it well.
:cooldance:
I seen this today in Kamloops. I thought it looked pretty cool, had a nice, noisy 12V in it. I might have to build something like this.
Is that based off the jeep body?
No it was a Service body in the rear, pickup cab and a D600 (5 ton) front nose, It had trailing arm front suspension so probably a 94-02 frame I am guessing. I kind of like those front ends (it would look better lifted a bit with bigger tires) and there are lots of service bodies around so I think I may do something like this myself as it worked out pretty good. The photo doesn't really do it justice but it really looked neat.
I'm not a bike rider so how ballsy would you have to be to ride this? And with those pipes I imagine it sounds pretty wild when you fire it up. :unbelievable:
I'd love to ride one. As a teenager I used to hang out with the sons. Biker gang.
one of the uppers would always try to trade my girl for his v8 bike.
I always chose to ride my chick instead.
that bike was bad ass though.
My problem with these bikes is that it seems that the motor would build so much heat that your feet and forearms would want to melt after riding for an hour. I've riden behind a few and they don't seem to bother folks.

I don't understand the hate for cowl hoods just because chevy had functional versions of them. Mustangs have had similar designs as have 70 Plymouth B bodies. They just weren't functional versions but they still looked decent and provided underhood clearance.

For me it is not a hate. It is more the crossover of different vehicles that I don't like. Similar to putting Cougar taillights on a Mustang (yes I know the CS).
How about adding Challenger dual tip exhaust and cutouts onto a B body or vice versa with the round tips.
As I noted, providing clearance is out the the window for that build.
And the B body cowl is a completely different looking animal.

That wonky Charger is sort of neat. Not as cool as a real one but pretty neat.
:iagree:
That 300 charger is definitely slick. Pretty impressed how well it turned out. I'd definitely rock that!

Agree also with the Charger. Not so with the Challenger.

Why not? If I had the money, and it was a factory option(I realize this is a conversion), I'd choose the convertible. I would be using it for more than just a track car, so convertible would be more enjoyable all around. I would want a roll bar, though.
Corey
plenty of money.
A convertible did not make sense back then, and it dose not make much sense now.
I like those cars as a convertible, I just can't get past the truck wheel flares on them :Thud:
Yeah those wheel flares are weird. Don't look right.

These big old boat chryslers with a blower are just cool.
I l;ove the styling of the late 50's, early 60's big Chryslers.
yeah! That's a hot car!
:bigthumb:
Thumbs up to that hot looking challenger just a tough looking car
Paint and body looks awesome in that one shot.
Agree and also appreciate they kept the factory door handles.
:takepicture:
:bigthumb:
:bigthumb:
Looks bloated. "Cowl" extra on hood along with it appears to have reversed the inward curve above rear body line.
It's a :stop: for me.
I like it, with the exception of the hood. That hood just ruins it for me. Cool car though! I wouldn't turn it down.
I actually really like the one above that, the greenish one. Slick looking car!
:bigthumb:
Surprisingly, That is one sweet looking truck! Love the lines!

SO what do you think was this based off a 70 body or a 2010 , the fuel filler is on the right side ??
:bigthumb:
I like this one
The combo of the matte finish, the red stripe and those rims really look great!
Agree.
Definately, nothing is overdone.
All works together.

This one is weird....it's not even a real car. It's likely a RC car :alan2cents:

Agreed. It has no lug nuts, the carbon pattern is too large and the pavement in the background is wavy. I think its a forced perspective picture. Probably an RC car.

Second day of assembling this for my friend. Factory 5 GTM, mmid engine LS power. Riveting aluminum together and checking wiring. Hope to have it off for paint the end of next week. We'll race it this way a few times then Greg wants to twin turbo it although I think that will make it a handful to race.
Looks like an fun project !
Hard to believe this thing runs and is semi drivable.

First time I've seen a bug with a hemi in the front as compared to a hemi in the rear
I have seen that one before and have to say it does work for me.
Simple and extremely unique enough to be successful.
Gotta be the coolest Vdub out there!

This one is a buddy of mine. Gia underpinnings with the Thing body.
The burned "patina" is real as it is now a survivor from the Ca. Paradise fire a few years back. Just clear coated over everything.
Wild !
Not sure how the pebbles stay out of the turbos!
This pick belongs in this thread.
I'm definitely a pro street guy. Luv fat tires. Didn't think you could go to big, but maybe I was wrong. Get a good thing going and somebody will always push it to the limit. Still it would be awfully cool to see this thing do a burn out. Black Lines Matter. :burnout:

Yes they are. That Javelin is real though , He is from Edmonton, built a cool clone for his son.
That is one great looking Javelin!
Not my favourite look, but a very different style of colour & design.
Yes it's a 1970 Cuda. Not real just a computer generated render.

QuoteI like that. Would make for a cool wagon for sure.
Yes I agree. Maybe the mini-van should go away and station wagons make a comeback.
Things do sometimes make a comeback, like LP's, older fashions, etc. I'm going to stay on the similar track with this concept.
