I'm super envious!!!!
I know how excited I was when mine got started. My neighbors would ride by and take pictures. Lol, they didn't like it.
Love it , nice to have a place to work !!
Wishful thinking in my world . . Looks like fun! :bigthumb:
I'm so jealous... very exciting times...

I've been seriously thinking of one of these metal buildings rather than a traditional style pole building.
How do you like yours?

I love mine and I have had both, block and metal. All boils down to having a place to work and easy to heat and cool.
Didn't quite get done today. Back in the morning. Looking good I think.
Looks good! Just curious, no mesh or rebar in the pad, MPI? Do you live in a frost free area to be able to do that? It's really coming together though!
Congrats , you are moving fast !!

Yes, rebar in the footings.......12" deep x 12" wide. Pad is 4 to 4 1/2" thick.......I think it was 3500# rating. ....The frost here is usually non existent except for killing flowers and tree blooms when its late.
Ok, the guys came back today to finish the trim, a window and hang the doors. And more rain, got to do something about splash now as the left side is already dirty.! Now the fun begins, electric, lights, etc.
What's the cost of something like that in your area ? :dunno:
Hmm I wonder if putting in skylights would also help with lighting in there.
Anyway, looking good. Any problems with cooling a metal building?

Ok, first, we had to have some trees cut, about 12 of them, $2900.00, next, initial grading of the spot, $500, next final grading and concrete, $3781.16. Next the building, $7815.55,delivered and set up. Just went to. Lowe's, $108 for starting electric work. So far..... more to come I am sure.
Looking good, My metal building is easy to heat and cool.

I have a neighbor that said he had a building he had skylights in and in the winter helped with heating but summer, was bad in it. Guess i will see how this summer goes.
That is awesome , & crazy fast to get a building together :bigthumb:
Well, getting things moved. Still arranging, like moving furniture, never ending , the wife is glad to have her garage back.
You know...... with that empty garage you "could" have room for "another" car? Just saying! :Stirring:
:haha:
The wife really wants a 65 or66 Mustang Convertable. Then she would have to share the garage again with the Jeep.
That looks good, hmm would be a shame to waste all that extra space :clapping:
Congratulations! I wouldn't know how to act with that in my back yard :perfect10:
I had an estimate done last week for two 40-50ft pine tree removals ($600 each) and another pine tree in my front for $550 plus three oak limbs which have grown over the house for $750. But the end result is like yourself to have a metal garage/shop in something close to 20' x 25". Eighty bucks a month in storage unit rental is like death by a thousand cuts :takemymoney: :stop:
Looks awesome. Congratulations. :bradsthumb:
Thanks all for the comments, still moving stuff around. Found a few things I forgot I had. Anyway, a couple more pics
I put a lot of the shop tools on casters. Easy roll into a good spot to use and then put away. Table saw/belt sander, radial arm saw/miter saw/edger, band saw, planer, . May have to make the table with the router, vice, drum sander, workmate vice portable too. Keeps the floor more open and can then blow out dust and junk out the door after completing jobs.
That turned out great. Nice job. :clapping:
That really looks good David, looks well built
Thanks all. I am still considering insulating the walls and covering with either plywood or OSB. Of course that could wait until closer to fall/winter. Another reason for having the tools on casters. Easy to move. I have a ton of Coke stuff, but not going to clutter. My wife said....don't tacky it up!
Looks really good. Jealous of the space.
I recommend at minimum that you insulate the sidewall next to where challenger is. This will prevent heating and chilling that side more than the rest.
Did I say jealous?
Mike.
That is a great addition , I would be living in there !!

Thanks Chryco.........I am going to order a tv antenna and see if I can pick up some channels. The wife said I need a clock and one coworker wanted to know if the hammock was up yet.......I am spending a little time up there..........!! Oh........got to get me a small fridge too......! And the son mentioned we are going to work on getting my house WiFi a little stronger. Got to have that access....... :fingerscrossed:
Well, the tv antenna came today. Surprisingly, getting 16 channels right now. Got the little 19" setting there now, but picking up a 32" tomorrow. Then deciding where to mount. Got the phone installed too. Went to Lowe's and got the aluminum to make the mounts for the antenna. Figured the best place was right up front. Got a solar light installed over the side door. Bright at night. Bought an alarm at Harbor Freight, like for the driveway. Works great too. Sensor just inside the doors and receiver in the kitchen. Any motion, I know about it. The wife said she didn't want me to just sit around, now doesn'T see me much. LOL
Don't have a TV in my shop, now I am jealous

Do yourself a favor, run a cat 6 line in a conduit I'm guessing there will be a trench to bring power, just separate the conduits by more than 6" & you'll be fine... Cat 6 is pretty cheap, I bought a 1000 ft box for about $100.... 1/2 PVC conduit is cheap... Having good solid internet access in your shop.. Priceless... WiFi won't work well in a metal building.... Correction, it'll work fine, if it is generated & received in the metal building but it won't work coming from the house even directional antennas don't do well....
:D Never mind the TV .... what are you doing about "tunes" Every shop just has to have a sound system!
TV in a garage ? No wonder you guys spend YEARS restoring a car ... ......I do like American Idol this season though

That's for sure...I just said a similar thing to my wife...down to 8 now
As this thing is progressing and I keep moving stuff around, I try to complete something before tackling another process. TV for example. Guess some music is next.
Must Have good tunes
First thing I see that has to go is the clock...
Time is your enemy in there.
Time is relative. The wife usually lets me know when I have to go to the house!
Anyway...moved a project in but will take my time on this one. Batteries are average, think I have a wiring issue. Time will tell!
The boss wants to ride now!
Lol on both counts
Nice hood blackout!
You're right on the hood blackout Blown Motor. Reminds me of the Challenger hood blackout. :) The road lamps and roll cage are great too!
TW
Earlier you said you may insulate it. Remember metal will bring condensation. Seriously think about acreflective type of insulation like solar guard, or if you go with a fiberglass type look into vrr metal building insulation. It has a reflective back and is faced with reinforced vinyl that will give a finished look and will help improve your lighting.
With vrr you can insulate walls and ceiling for around $1000.00. There's a company in South Carolina that is called silvercote that I recommend.
Thanks dougdel.......I will investigate the insulation company. I did have the top insulated with the 1/2" bubble...reflective on the top side, white on showing side.
As far as the hood blackout on the golf cart.............This was when I and my son redid the golf cart......it has since gone in disrepair and has been stored for a while. This was the son that passed in December. We did the hood blackout to match as close as we could to the Challenger.....I will tweak it some when I get it going again.
These pics were made back in Sept of 2011.
That is cool !
Update.... the wife got the garage for her Jeep of course when I moved the Challenger to my building. We have done a little changing around and she is now calling this her room. Moving a little bit of CocaCola stuff down from the bonus room.
We originally had the RaceDeck material around the pool, but hot weather really made the plastic too hot for the feet and it was slippery too.
Anyone who buys from Harbor Freight, they have some good items. Wanted to of course add lights in the building for night time work. They had the 4 foot, 5000 lumin led lights for $20. I got three, thinking I may need 6. Wrong. These things are great. 3 is a plenty. Ran pvc conduit and a plug in at each drop. Worked out great.
That's looking great David, does the coke machine work?

The coke machine is a Westinghouse and is a 10 cent machine. It holds 240 of the 6 oz bottles. They are loaded like a carousel parking garage. Insert money, the rack turns and out drops a Coke. Yep it works. Of course, can't make any money selling at 10 cents!
NICE. I may try out those lights.
Looks like you have yourself a great arrangement in the garage. I have some woodworking stuff in our basement and am constantly struggling to contain the sawdust so I don't contaminate the ventilation system. Your arrangement looks like you'd mostly need just a leaf blower to clean up.
The guy that lives next door to my sister has a couple of classic cars including a numbers matching '70(?) Chevelle that he's working on. While the cars are cool, what really caught my eye was the huge car lift he purchased from a local dealership that went out of business, plus a set of stairs that went directly from the garage to the basement where all the parts are stored.
I'm rapidly developing an appreciation for where/how people work on their cars as much as the cars themselves. Congrats on your new arrangements!
Yes...Thanks Dakota........I have most of the woodworking stuff on casters and actually yesterday had some band saw work to do , so rolled it to the door, cut and then blowed out the door any dust. Some of course will blow back in but most is easy cleanup.....
Super jealous...
I have my cars on casters to allow a few inches more of working room.
One thing I did when I built my new garage 10 years ago, that I am very glad I did, is install a ceiling fan.
I insulated my ceiling using these Styrofoam vents stapled to the plywood sheets on the roof going from the peak where there are vents, down to the gable, before I installed the bats of insulation.
One problem I do have sometimes in summer is that I will get condensation on the walls and even on the paper for the insulation on the ceiling, and it will even drip a little on the cars! I could leave the ceiling fan on 24/7 all summer to maybe stop that, but really don't want to do that. I'd like to find a way to prevent that from happening.

:iagree: yup must be nice to have so much room
Yes Alan ,have some room but you would be surprised how quick it goes away!
Today, Father's Day, got a nice gift from my sons family that passed away back in Dec. A 36" industrial high velocity fan. Two speeds. That thing will push some air! Also from my other son, something to put on my new building .....pic attached. Going to make me a frame and hang between the doors! So proud of both of my sons, one still with us and one on Heaven.
