High Mopar sales prices at Mecum

I was surprised at what some of the Mopars sold for at KC Mecum over the weekend. KC isn't one of their marquee events where the deep pocket bidders flock, and being winters eve, not a time when Midwest car guys are typically motivated to put a new ride in their garage.

Wow!  I'm very surprised at the overall cost of this one.  Especially for a "restored" car.
Can I count the things that are non original to the car?

Looks awesome though!  and it is very interesting that the 2-4's are catching up.

Thanks for sharing.  Time to bump up the insurance values, I suppose.  First time I've seen the race track used with round tail lights.  It's not bad IMO.  Hard to do?  Don't know much about the 70/71 tail.

It's definitely an up market ... so if you had any notion of selling ... now is definitely the time.

I pulled the Cars online ad for my '71 Challenger V code recently, figured the car is better than cash in the bank in an inflationary time and having a car in storage due to lack of garage space for it isn't the worse thing in the world.
I had a guy recently trying to get me interested in taking 70 for it, glad I told him I wasn't interested!
Seeing that '70 with a few things incorrect on it selling for 99K makes that decision seem wise.

I've seen the comps on my car recently and I'd be tempted to sell my convertible but the capital gains tax would not be very welcome.

Increasing car values are generally a case of good news/bad news. Good news if you are trying to rid yourself of cars, bad news if you want to buy them.
I'm glad for the cars I have, even my new Ram I bought earlier this year now seems to be a good investment. The old saying about new cars losing 20% the minute you drive them off the dealer lot isn't true now! And that situation shows no signs of improving anytime soon. Never thought I'd see a day when new and late model prices are like they are now. 
I almost certainly overpaid for the Magnum GT I bought in August, but a year from now it may seem like it was a bargain.
But on the other hand, I've got 3 or 4 cars on my bucket list I've dreamed of owning for ages I may never be able to afford or justify, like a Coronet R/T convertible, an AAR, and I've swore since I was 18 I'll own a hemi car someday.

The selling prices shown reflect the the hammer price + buyers premium. Therefore that car's winning bid was $64,000. Add the $6400 buyers premium and you get $70,400. For $70,400 you'd think you could find a hemi Challenger convertible clone to buy instead of a 383?
