My 74 Challengers has a broken/missing lower passenger side dash trim.

Anybody know what this part is, all the restoration places show the trim that goes under radio to the left of the ash tray.   I know there is another part probably about 30 inches long that goes under the glove box and over to the ash tray.  Anybody have a part number or picture or better still one they want to sell ?  Black.

Thanks

Are you referring to part #39 (23-33-119) in the illustration?
I think this part can be found both the 1973 and 1974 Barracuda.
Part# 4737 FX9
I've seen this part thrown away more than once.

I thought #39 was only for A/C cars? If so I have seen them and they seem to ask crazy money for that part.

At least one of the Barracudas I've owned over the years had "dealer installed A/C."   I recall on the 1970 car, this was manifest by a piece much like part #39, beginning at the right-most side of the dash, and running along the bottom until it reaches the radio.  It is through this (at most 2-inches tall) piece that the A/C vents blow their cold air.

Regarding the 1973-74 trim piece, in my experience passengers frequently hook this trim piece with their footwear as they exit the car.  I'm guessing in time, the trim gets broken, or even discarded by the frustrated owner.

Correct, it is only on factory a/c cars.  It  came on all 70-74 cars. They are fragile and can crack in two pieces at the mounting screw holes. Mine cracked in two at the far right passenger side hole so I found another one. When I mounted it I used a thin rubber washer under the screw to dampen vibration, and snugged the screw but I didn't crank it too tight. So far so good. Since they only came on a/c cars and are brittle and prone to breaking, used ones command a premium.
If your car has a light pkg, the underdash courtesy light attaches to this piece.

Yes, A/C cars only and they are not reproduced.

While the part is long, might be a good one to scan and 3D print.  Might be able to do in in two pieces on smaller machines.

thanks for all the posts on this.   Know that i know the price...to heck with it !!  Its just a piece of breakable plastic !!

I remember 16 years ago....dickering on the price of a rear windscreen for my 66 charger.  The seller says do you know these arent made and how rare they are?  And my wife said and do u know how rare it is to find someone who wants one ?

LOL

OMG, thank you for validating my thoughts about this piece of trim.  Most others with whom I discuss e-bodies feel the same way.  But if I had a numbers matching Hemi (with A/C) I would no doubt feel different.  Few of the cars I've been blessed to help with, were of a caliber where this trim was desired or wanted.
