Looking for door handle retainer plate for passenger door 71 cuda.  Got the car ready for assembly, go to put door handle door handle on, nothing to bolt it to ha!

Not sure where it went, they're supposed to be welded on.  Let me know if I need to describe it better, can't seem to find anything online.

a picture might help.  I think I may have it in boxes of random parts.  I went looking down into the door to see if I could snap a picture of it, but line of sight on one installed is tough to get.  I am organizing those parts, today, if I see one, I'll post it up.

the parts book does not appear to list one for the e-body, but I think it would be called 23-14-18 RETAINER, Door Pull Handle

First pic is the passenger door with the plate missing...second is the driver door taken from the backside showing the handle bolted to the plate.

I don't remember having that on my 70 Challenger?  :dunno:

Here's a picture of the front side with no handle in. They are definitely welded in looks like a metal piece that was spot welded. Probably have to find a donor door.

Ah now I see the issue. Did you put new door skins on? If so hopefully you have the old ones still ?

You could probably bend up something to fit. Simple U-channel, all those contours aren't necessary.
Probably don't need to weld, just bolt it to existing flange.

Thanks guys and thank you 440ehigh for posting a much better photo of that plate.  I agree I think the easiest way would be to fab something up and make a few calculated cuts and either bolt in or jb weld it to the rear of those tabs (door hanndle will help keep it in).

Im not sure where the original plate went.  I don't believe this door is original to the car but it also doesn't have any grind or drill marks that would indicate it got intentionally removed.  Head scratcher.
