Let's hear some discussion on correct gas caps for each year of E-Body production.
1970 info below but I would like to hear confirmation that this is correct. My original 1970 Cuda gas cap is like the first picture.
Possible variations:
ECS (California) cars versus non-ECS (49-state cars)

The original 1970 non-ECS (evaporative control system) fuel cap looked like the one below labeled 70 cuda GAS CAP.jpg and was made by STANT.
Notice that the lettering is stamped into the cap, not embossed/raised and says VEN TED on the top with ANTI SURGE on the bottom.
The one pictured has the "S" for STANT rotated so it is not easily recognized as an "S".

The correct reproduction cap pictured below is galvanized. Another vendor has them in zinc dichromate. You can get the galvanized cap from a forum sponsor, Roseville Moparts https://www.rosevillemoparts.com/product/gas-cap-non-vented-1970-a-b-c-e/. Mopar used multiple vendors for many of these parts. That is probably worthy of another discussion about different dipped finishes.

Anybody else have details?

Following along, I have 1 I'll never use

Pic belonging to Terri McCann, previously saved.  Obvious ECS version.

Yes, that cap is not correct. It has incorrect raised letters for ANTI SURGE at the top and VENTED at the bottom.

Regarding the one with the yellow ECS label,
the cap itself is smaller diameter than the correct 70 Anti Surge
Vented cap

The 1970-only fuel tank filler neck opening is 1-1/2". Later fuel tanks were 1-3/8" so the 1970 fuel cap is unique.
The center photo is a generic fuel cap but the needed dimensions at the filler neck and gasket are correct. The outer diameter measurement could be different on the original fuel caps.

Is the 70 cap the same for Cuda and Challengers?

So the non-California gas cap is vented. Does that mean the California one is non vented? About ready to start driving this spring and don't want to screw thing up at the last minute LOL

in 1970, there were two types, w/ECS (California) and w/o ECS.  But by 1971, they were all ECS.

The correct year (and ECS-type) Barracuda cap may very well work, but keep in mind on the Barracuda, the caps had one look, and they were hidden behind the rear license plate.  On the Challenger, they were exposed on the side, and thus, there are a few decorative types of cap for the Challenger.

Yes, the 1970 E-Bodies for California had Evaporative Control System (ECS) which has a non-vented fuel cap.
The 1970 49-state E-Bodies do not have ECS and have vented fuel caps.
The later years all had some form of ECS with non-vented fuel caps.

What we need is an inexpensive version of the VEN TED ANTI SURGE fuel cap!
It makes no sense that a very similar-looking fuel cap is only $12.99 for a 68-74 Chevy Nova but our cap is over $125 in repro.
