I was a bit worried about the roof being pitted as I bought the car in gray primer so wasn't sure what the metal surfaces looked like underneath but I was pleasantly surprised to find it nice and clean other than a handful of small spots. I hit those with the bucket blaster and shot the epoxy on it.

I also got the rear end off the floor and bolted in which gave me a chance to get an idea of what the wheels will look like on it. I may do a similar center cap decal as I have on my Barracuda.

Working on the doors, I am amazed how clean they are seeing I bought it out of New Jersey. The drivers door looks like it was jacked on so I had some straightening to do.

I had to split the trunk lid top skin from the structure to rebuild the lip. I still need to adjust the edges height wise so there are some low areas

How did you bend the inside lip up and out of the way (if you don't mind me asking)?

Small sharp chisel to get it started and then just carefully pried it up with pliers a little bit at a time. In hindsight I should tried using a bit of heat as I went along to slightly soften the metal. The heat MAY have helped prevent it from cracking when I folded it back over but being 55 years old it might have cracked anyway.

Quote from: Katfish on January 24, 2026, 03:57:34 AMNice work on the trunk lid, that must have taken some time.

Yes, I have a bunch of hours in it already and still need to straighten the edges, skim with filler and sand it flat. They do now sell a reproduction but I`ve heard they need work/massaging to fit correctly, don`t have cutouts for the wing and are $1000 so I decided to just fix the one I had.
