4 speed boot a833

What's the deal with this boot? I haven't even had it on for 6 months bought it new and it's torn already!

Anyone know what's the deal with these things ? Are they just cheap or ? Is there a better quality one I can get ? Mine tore at the opening where the shifter comes out of

Pretty common, do you know where you bought it ? I've had decent results with the ones from PG Classics, must better than NOS Chrysler ones

Yeah bought it from vans auto. Great guys but that's good to know. I was assuming I welded the hump too far up or down but then the shifter probably wouldn't line up as well

Surely you're not trying to pull the boot over the top of the shifter?  You have to remove the shifter handle and put it thru the boot from the bottom of the handle, re-install the handle then screw down the boot.
