70 non ac heater box question #2

so after i got the heater box in and fastened and the cables reattached i noticed  this  See Photo.  what am i missing here?  why is it so separated?

It is supposed to have a gap there. When the defroster is on, the air from the fan goes past that gap drawing more cabin air in, increasing the air volume to the windshield. :brainiac:

Mine is the same. As Alan stated, gap is normal.
