Not with my cars right now. Just can't remember. On 1970 / 71 Challengers & Cuda's only.
Which cars and what panels get the door handle spring behind the interior panels.

Those are only found on the rear interior panel of a Challenger....I would say 1970 only, but I could be wrong, most cars I've restored were missing them and it doesn't seem to matter.

Thanks Alan. I was not sure. I was thinking Challenger but not sure about Cuda's

They have nothing to do with the "door handle" they sit on the window crank shaft behind the interior panel

Yea, wrong name. They go behind the Qtr interior panels. Thinking they wanted to keep the panel out and keep it against the handle some.

My 70 Cuda has those springs on the window crank stem, rear panel.

My 1970 Challerger has those springs. Don't seem to be very functional. Not much compression on them and they fit quite loosely.

GY3R/T

Installed with wide part of spring against panel. Not supposed to have much tension.

Bringing this back,

Are these only for the rear, or should the front windows have these springs?

I think the title should be Window Crank Spring, Picture from Barry W.

Katfish

Should the front panel have the spring?

I bought new window cranks and spacers.
The repos are 1/2 as thick as what I have now.
They leave a big gap and are sloppy

Here's a pic with the thick spacer, it seems right.
If not, curious what application they are for.

anlauto

No springs on the front, thick spacers are correct, thin ones are A & B Body I believe  :alan2cents:

On a car where those springs were missing for years, and one with a bunch of parts stuffed into the back seat, and then sitting for a long time in a humid hot environment (think Georgia summers), the panels collapse some, and separate from the plastic grommet and look unsightly.  They serve a function, albeit a limited one.
