I have installed the heater box (non AC) and defrost vent.  But there is a gap between the 2 parts.  What am I missing?  Is there a seal?  Both are original to the car.

Thanks,

@garrett007  yup, that's as good as it gets.  I've seen people seal that joint up and I guess that would help, but I really have never needed the defrost so I didn't do it to mine.

Thanks for the input.  I just needed to be sure before I install my dash.

It's left open so it draws more cabin air in as the air flows upward towards the windshield.

They work fine, I've driven them in the winter.

Curious, where did that come from?

I've heard the same thing for years.  (The gap was to draw in some cabin air.)

I never thought about it, since the cage fan is turning in a sealed box, air has to come from somewhere if the vent is closed.

I just don't remember learning that in any classes during my college days, :notsure: in either of my Electrical or Mechanical engineering degrees.  I wrote the specifications, designed and built the truck to carry the solid rocket engines for the space shuttle, I just can't figure the super technical stuff like you can Allan, you're my hero.  I feel like such a bumb a$$.

Don't feel bad, I call DMT and asked if anything goes there and they said nope but they get lots of calls asking!
