Thinking of ordering a new automatic floor console from Tony's and picking it up at the NATS.

The current original console is still fairly nice but dies have a couple cracks on the seams and one of the supports inside the lid is broken.

I see a few vendors selling them but I assume they are all from the same manufacterer?

For those that have bought them how is the quality and fit?

It appears the console and lid are included, is a new hinge included?

Thanks.

I've used several of Tony's consoles, nice piece, hinge is included. I would see if David at Roseville has a better deal then Tony himself. :takemymoney:

Buying from Dave is always a good option...however in this case, I'd buy directly from Tony at the show.  He will have consoles on hand...you shouldn't have to pre-order.  When I bought mine, I brought it back to my vehicle and opened up the box.  The texture on the passengers side of the console was all distorted.  I brought it right back and had them look at it.  They said sometimes the consoles don't come out of the mold easily and that can happen.  They gave me a different one that was much better.  That's why I'd buy it at the show from Tony.  You can look it over for any issues before you buy.  :alan2cents:

I seem to remember the top plate not fitting perfectly at the back corner.  Instead of modifying my original plate, I bought a used original and modified it slightly to fit better.  Then I put new woodgrain on.

I bought one that had the same issue. They are decent consoles but still not as nice as the originals. The factory top plate is a little long for the repop console as well. But can be made to work.

If you just have a couple of cracks to deal with on the console body, you could use black ABS cement to repair them. I've also fixed broken console door supports using a piece of plastic dowel rod placed in a puddle of cement. Or you just could order a new console door by itself, they match the original very well. I've gone so far as to splice in donor pieces from badly broken consoles to save originals, once sanded and sprayed with a touchup coat of dye, the repairs are almost invisible. The first pic is a repaired crack on one console, the second is a repaired back section of another console using a donor piece spliced in by the seat belt holder, before being redyed.

Thanks for the info guys.

I want to look at the new consoles in person which is why I plan to pick it up at the NATS.

I'm going to remove the current console and look at it closely, it really isn't in too bad of shape from what I can see.

If I can replace the lid and fix a couple cracks it sounds like that is the best choice.
