Has anyone had any experiences (good or bad) with the vinyl woodgrain overlays for 1970 rallye dash? My original bezel is scratched and looks bad in just one small place. I'm aware of the $269  :bigmoney: replacement plates, just asking about the vinyl overlays.  :thankyou:

Jim Filmore at Detroit Muscle Technologies has the best out there IMO. I used his overlay on my console plate and it fit perfectly. The material he uses is thicker than average vinyl therefore it was wrinkle and bubble free.

DMT makes the best stickers, but they're just that stickers....don't expect perfection.

@Aar1064 What was the installation procedure? Was it like putting on a stripe? Use any kind of spray?

I agree and they don't have stickers on them.  They are actually silkscreen on metal.

Just a story of what everyone is talking about here. 10-15 years ago, I really needed to do something about distressed instrument fascia, I mean it stared me in the face every day, so I started looking for the wood overlay for the WSS/SE standard dash. Looked and looked, sure for the Rallye instruments, not the standard. Besides my fascia was silk screened on metal wood trim. So after pondering my options, I ran across a store that catered to the dealerships here in town. I bought, a bit of a pricey roll, of 3M vynil wood trim that was used for the sides of wood trimmed mini-vans and the pt-cruisers. Pretty heavy duty vynil, I cut my own pattern very carefully took my time, and cleaned up the fascia to insure there would be stick power. Ok, it's not in the factory Walnuts but it looks good in the cherry oak. And it will probably last forever. I also did the door inserts with it. I like how the red in the wood tone compliments the EK2 Go-Mango outside paint.     Thanks,   Al

There are instructions for mixing your own solution included. Basically Windex and water. I've laid a lot of vinyl and the 3M that he uses really lays well. Spray it on both pieces then squeegee out.

I agree Daves are fantastic but he was asking about overlays or stickers. I actually used hydrographics for my gauge bezel and love the way it turned out. Posted a video here awhile ago.

biggest issue with the "STICKERS" / overlay is that it is VERY difficult to get them to lay flat around the wholes on the cluster face small or large. the switch pod call outs are small decals that go onto the overlay decal and look out of place once on IMO.

I personally wont use them again. I will suck it up and buy the actual aluminum face and bend them. Much better product.
