Yes, the mirror comes completely apart.  I'll see if I can find some photos of it all apart....

I was going to mask the ball and not paint it. Do you know how to get the ball out of the mirror itself? It would make it easier to clean it up. Otherwise I'll just get it as best I can with it still in the mirror.

My mirror is fixed!!!!

Thanks

The mirror will come completely apart, I've had the glass out of mine.

Yes, the 70-71 cars held the sunvisors in the base.
I hadn't realized later cars weren't that way.

Day/Night mirror was standard unless you had an A93 Coupe, then it was optional.
Anyone have a pic of the E body Non-Day/Night mirror?

Looking at the picture above, the post might just be silver zinc plated.

Ya I was just looking at that. Going to have to reformulate the plan I think. I suppose if I blast it to get the black paint off then clear coat it, it won't be bright enough will it.

Can you give us any instrctions on how to disassemble it? Also once the glass is out can you get the mirror re-silvered and maintain the day/night effect?

The mirror in 1970 was different with the way it switched from daytime to nighttime, but I thought all the bases were silver?   :notsure:

My understanding as well Cody. The photos are front and back of the rear view mirror from my 1970 R/T SE..

Yes, you can take it apart and tighten the screws inside.

Blown Motor.  You know me so I hope you dont mind me doing a little hi-jacking.

My rear view mirror easily moves.  Heck, if I hit a bump the mirror moves some.

Any suggestions?  Does it have any adjustment in it?

Thanks,

Neil

Good to know! The TF2 shift kit I had in my car before would knock the mirror around on every shift.  :headbang:
