Tuff Wheel
« on: March 17, 2021, 10:04:46 AM »
After driving modern cars with thick, wrapped steering wheels...my 1970 factory steering wheel feels thin (it is) and not really comfortable. What are your thoughts on changing to a Tuff Wheel?

Who sells the best one?
Are they more comfortable?
Does anyone have a used one for sale?

 :thankyou:

I like this one the best. Nice leather wrap instead of the hard plastic of the grant version, and its slightly smaller in diameter giving more room.

I agree with Brad's recommendation. That is a nice wheel.  Easy button.

I had an ugly one already and spruced it up with a little elbow grease and added a leather cover.  You can cover yourself or have an interior shop do it to add girth to the wheel.  I'm looking forward to putting mine to use.  Hopefully you can avoid the cutting and gluing part.

I did the same. Bought a very, nice black leather cover and laced it onto a factory Tuff wheel. I got the Tuff wheel back in the 80's for $10. The diameter is perfect for E-bodies with power steering. Strong arms needed for manual steering. LOL

I have a Grant 246 15" real wood wheel that I want to sell. It is new. PM me if you are interested.

The ad doesnít show a center section/horn pad. Assuming that isnít included? Do I use the one from my stock 3-spoke?

The horn switch would work from your stock 3 spoke, but you would need to buy a horn cap from a 72-74 two spoke wheel, or a new reproduction  :alan2cents:

Wow! Didnít know steering wheels were so complicated (and expensive). The PG Classic wheel is polished SS and the Grant wheel is matte nickel finish. What were the original Tuff Wheels? I would think the matte finish would look better. Comments?

Here's a pic of my Challenger with a Tuff-Wheel, a little worse for wear. I really like the look, size, and feel. I prefer the matte look but I guess shiny vs matte is personal preference.

I would like to have a larger diameter wheel also.  Armstrong steering though.  What are the diameter differences?
