Looking for a review or info on the quality of these  A pillar moldings.   Most places only have black (and I have a pair sitting on the shelf but I suspect they're the 'universal' ones, not the ones with correct screw placement, which changed during the 1971 model run).  If I can get actual accurate white moldings to go with my white metro panels and eventual Legendary upholstery (H6XW) I'd rather do that than try to get black ones prepped and painted.

Thanks for any info.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the white ones are vacuum formed and not nearly as good quality as the correct injection molded ones. I believe you're correct in assuming the best quality ones only come in black :alan2cents: I could be completely wrong as I've never needed white ones recently, and now I'm curious of the answer as well

Their website does not specify type of manufacture; it says they're the only one with correct grain.

I guess I'll ping them to find out.

Thanks for replying!

Unfortunately Van's seems to not be very good about responding to questions.  Trying again...

Try calling on the telephone, it's a great tool from days gone past, but it still works :alan2cents:

Tony's Parts has been advertising in Mopar Collectors Mag that he has new "correct" A pillar trim moldings.  Not sure if he has white but it's worth a try.

Vans didn't respond to the website help/contact form but they did reply on Ebay.  They state the pillar moldings are injection molded like the Metro door panels.  They also said that fitment is by model year (there is a screw hole position difference between 1970 and later); other sources have indicated that there was some overlap into 1971 with the older moldings.  In any case my car was built (nominally) April 1971 so should be the later type.

Going to check Tony's to be sure but probably going to order these from Vans soon if Tony's doesn't have something better.

So Tony's lists only black pillar moldings but says they are injection molded with correct grain.  They also list as 1970-mid '71 then mid-'71 to 1974 type with different mounting screw locations.  No white ones.  I'm going to risk the Van's moldings.  When they get here I'll pull a Metro panel from storage to compare.  Hopefully they'll be close enough.

Is the Tony's part more accurate, fit better than Roseville?

Apparently Van's has an exclusive on the white moldings.  Hopefully the colors match the Metro panels but it not it will be easier to color match a white one than prime and coat a black one.

No idea on quality or fitment differences.

Even when the cars were new not all the colours matched 100% :alan2cents:

The ones in my car matched.  Sunburned chalky grayish white courtesy of Las Vegas summer sun.

They don't have to match the door panels, but it would be nice if when I'm done these pillar moldings, and the over-door/over-window trim are pretty close.

The moldings arrived today.  I'm not going to have time to pull any of the Metro panels out for comparison over the Thanksgiving weekend, but will try to do so as soon as I can.

They do appear to be well made and they 'feel' like the right kind and thickness of plastic

Yes, all the plastic injected molded parts matched.  The only different variation, "shades", of color was between the different colored materials.  The differences in color did happen comparing it do the different colored materials such as vinyl compared to plastic as well as painted steel parts such as dash frames and steering columns.
