Evaporator to compressor routing?

How is everyone routing the evaporator line from the firewall to the compressor on the Gen3 swaps?

I'm staying with the stock evaporator, and need to get that connected to the low mount compressor up by the power steering.

Any pics and suggestions for what has worked is appreciated.

Thx

Rod,
Did you get this figured out? I routed mine along the firewall behind the engine and then around and down to the compressor. Hid as well as possible. Since I used a VintageAir heater box, I just used 90* fittings off the bulkhead through the firewall. Not sure what the factory evaporator uses for fittings, so not sure what's available for those.

Hi Corey,

Not yet, behind engine is shortest route, but it looks tight.
Sounds like you got it to work.
What route did you take by steering column, hug engine or go up and over then along fender?
Rubber is easiest, but depending on route, it might make sense to have a hardline made?

Thx

I moved the evap over to be in the fender and ran the lines in the fender, then under/through the lower radiator support. Can't really see anything.

Evaporator in fender?  Not picturing how this could work?
Got any pics?

It's under the dash, but scooted all the way to the right so the lines go through the firewall in the fender, rather than under the hood.

I'll have to get a picture of the other side, but it's at the paint shop now.

Thx, pic helps.
Is that a Vintage Air system?

392 Cuda

yes. did vintage air and bougth the additional kit and a bunch of different bulkhead connectors, etc. to do my own lines, crimper too.

Thx for the reply, seems like a nice clean install.
I couldn't bring myself to throw another $2k for the VA box.
I ended up buying a crimper, making the lines, and routed the low side behind the engine, up the drivers side, and down to the compressor.

I haven't been able to get the system charged, definitely something wrong.

Need to quit stalling and try and fix that before summer.
