Tighten from the center four bolts out to the corners, yes the paper gaskets are included in the 1215 gasket set , no need to torque them just pull them tight .
The top rail on the heads was never milled flat ,the factory used steel covers to flex & seal on the uneven surface, they can be tough to seal especially if you use cast alum covers that do not flex

Welcome: I like that hood, I think they starting making those in 70 or 71 and I've always liked the look of the Six Pack scoop molded into the R/T bulge. 900 miles for a first drive in an old car is a bit gutsy alright, you know the car's weaknesses and strengths now.

I will have to agree..I know almost every rattle, shimmy, and quirk this car has.

It's funny..I google searched problems with my car and it brought me to TOS, but not this one. Even after a search of e body forums. Oh well. I'm here now and I'm happy about it. Probably going to make a thread today detailing everything I want to change/fix.

Georgia is home and always will be. I'd like to get a georgia meet together one day. That would be pretty cool.

We're happy to have you here.     And glad you brought that search results up.  I've always wondered how members find us or how we rank on searches.   When I type in "e body forum" I get these results (see screen shot) and we're #2 and #3 on the list, but I don't know if Google is smarter then me and adjusting my results because it knows what I want to find?

What do you guys get when you google 'e body forums"?
