Hi everyone, my current E-Body is a 73 Challenger. It's been in the U.K just over a year, it had been raced before it came over so is quite abused (. I intend on getting her back to being a great car but lots of work ahead.
It would be nice to find out a little history of the car before it arrived here but I wouldn't know where to start tbh. It still has the Texas plates on but I've tried searching the number and nothing comes up.

:welcome:  @Premix   Very nice Challenger!!!!   :clapping:  One of my favorite colors.

What plans do you have for her in terms of getting her back to being a great car?  How's she run?

As for tracking down the previous owners / history.   Do you have the previous owners name?  Do you know who imported it to the UK?

Thanks a lot Cody!

The guy that imported her in his infinite wisdom thought it would be a good idea to cut out the roll cage, leaving two holes in the floor behind the front seats and two in the trunk. It's ok though as he stuck in some new plates over the holes and I do mean stuck with silicon! I was told the car was rewired, so yes it needs a total re-wire
The TCI transmission with a manual valve body refused to shift gear, now there are no gears at all. The leaf springs have been moved inboard so I'll be moving them back to where they should be. The list goes on.

Unfortunately I don't have the previous owners name before it came over. It was imported by Michael Flashman, Newberry Road Garage, Exmouth.

Well, you found the right place here to get all the information you'll need.  We have some really smart E-Body members here.

Glad you're not letting these little things get you down.  You have a sweet car and it will be exactly what you want very soon.  What's first on the list to do?  I'm pretty good with Stock wiring and @anlauto knows a lot about them too.  I like to sue the M&H wiring.  We also have some great guys who have rewired their car from top to bottom using other brands and making their own.  Check out what @GoodysGotaCuda  did with his wiring...

Looking forward to seeing more photos of your car and watching you make it exactly what you want.   :slapme5:

Thanks for you help Cody.

I don't mind the work it's all part of the fun with owning these great cars.

So far I'm about ready to pull the motor and trans out, so I'll give this a go at the weekend, weather permitting. Then strip the paint from the engine bay and weld up any extra holes that have appeared over the years from different owners.

I'll probably go with an American Autowire harness as I put one in my '69 Mach 1. (sorry for swearing) They are well made and so easy to use. I'll check out the links you sent, thanks a lot  :bigthumb:

I forgot to ask, before I start pulling the motor and trans and get stuck, will they come out together with the steering bar underneath still attached, obv the column is out the way now. I'm just worried I won't get the angle with the bar down there.

Cuda Cody

Post a few photos of the engine bay once you get the engine out.  It's a fun game we play trying to find all the extra non factory holes!   :veryexcited:

Lol, will do, there will be plenty here I guarantee!  :bigthumb:

Yes, you can leave the K-Member in the car and remove the Engine and Trans.  The Manual Steering box will not be in the way either.  It helps to have an extra hand to get it out as you'll be taking it out at an angle.   :wrenching:

Great, that's good to know, thanks.

Yeah I've got a good friend who enjoys working on the car so he'll be getting a call ;)

I just read @GoodysGotaCuda post you sent, wow! He really is on another level, that's inspired me no end!

Thanks for the kind words. That type of wiring is not for the faint of heart however!
