Hey everybody is this the new Cuda-challenger forum. Kinda explains why i was only hearing cricket noises over there the party is right here.  I  bought a 74 cuda this spring it's my first mopar ever and changing my 74 front end to a 71 didn't realize it'll cost a fortune lol. You live and your learn. I'm a Ford/Mopar guy

Welcome @Cuda70-74     Glad you found us.  Congratulations on finding a Cuda and good luck updating the look to a 71.  It's hard to beat the look of a 71 Cuda.     What color are you going to paint it?

Thanks for the welcome. That's the hardest part is choosing the color. I'm still trying to figure out were the whole cuda body painted the same color or was the engine bay painted blk and undercarriage another color. I see some with the whole body painted one color and I see some with the engine bay painted blk plus the undercarriage. With that question answer it will help me choosing the color. I want to make a Phantasm clone since my car was original blk and that's what got me into wanting a cuda.

Originally all E-Bodies had their engine bays painted the same color as the body.  The underside of the car was dip primed and then it would have over-spray from the exterior paint job.   Some cars got more over-spray then others and might even look like the underside was body color, but the most correct way would be a primer color with body color over-spray.  Also, all E-Bodies were suppose to get undercoating in the wheel wells, but some also got undercoating covering the complete underside.  That was an option you could order.

A lot of people will paint the underside body color because it looks good and protects well.  But like I said, over-spray on the undercarriage and body color in the engine bay is the most correct.

very nice project and good luck with the mods; as far as you are modifying it, it doesn't really matter how the engine compatment is painted, do it the way you like but a 71 has body color inside the engine bay

Thanks for all the info guys on painting the body.  I still haven't decided in a color I'll probably goto a dodge dealer,look at some colors you guys painted yours and look at some old mopar to get an idea.
