Looking for a pair of good hood hinge springs, or a recommendation for a good, accurate aftermarket set - thanks!
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy horsepower and that's kind of the same thing.....

For shaker or rallye hood?

@fc7cuda, is there a difference?  I actually have both, and am planning on finishing and painting both to be able to swap.  My car was originally a Rallye hood, but I picked up an AMD shaker hood in a parts lot.  I actually love the look of both so not sure which way I will go.....

So both is the answer to your question

Mr Cuda

The classic cuda hood in black is spectacular.  Don't forget,  cuda and challenger use different springs,  especially in 70.
Everyone has a shaker,  LOL, my  440 Cuda has a flat hood and exhaust turndowns for a clean look.

I found an older post on Moparts by Resto Rick I believe.  He identified four different hood springs for E-bodies:

1) T/A
2) AAR
3) 70-74 Cuda w/o shaker (24 coils with 1.75" diameter)
4) All 70-74 Challenger + Cuda w/N96 (19 coils with 2" diameter)

Let me know if I got that wrong.  I have a friend with a survivor N96 cuda check his springs and they are 24 coil 1.75" diameter (which does not match the info above).

Mr Cuda

As with everything on these cars, perception, fact, reality get blurred over the years.
Having had primarily 70's,  I noticed on my 71's the larger size immediately.
Now, most of my 70's were LA built cars, and the 71's built in hamtramck, if that has any bearing.
So, should I swap all the small springs out for the shaker conversion folks?

Man, is ANYTHING simple on these cars????

I am starting to wish for the days of the late '80s when we were buying these cars, going down to the local speed shop and adding anything that made it go faster..... who even thought about a hood spring, hell I dont think we even cared if it had any!?!?!?!?

Well, looks like I have more research in my future..... and might need 2 sets of springs because I can't just have 1 hood.... plus I do not have any at all since the FG hood had no hinges and a Toyota prop rod.

Yes everyone has a shaker, but figure since I have it, and seems they will be back ordered forever I will hold onto it and paint it up "in case" I decide to throw it on.  I do actually prefer the Rallye hood so that is goin on to start .... some day.

@Jay Bee I have read that a bunch of times, adding to my state of constant confusion!
