What's the deal with aluminum adapters?  We're they original equipment on anything or just over the counter parts?

Used to see the aluminum ones a lot on 70's 360 trucks and occasionally on cop cars from the mid 70's.
They can turn all the way mounting, whereas the cast ones lock in one position only

Good to know.  I always assumed it was an early 340 (68-69) thing.
