Here's some reference pictures he already has. I'm wondering if the door regulators look the same for 1970 only that the manual crank shaft and it's associated mounting bracket are swapped out for the electric motor.

Jay Bee

Convertible rear vs coupe rear. I tried to post this in the previous thread but it didn't show, probably didn't click "(more attachments)" first.

My 71 has power windows, but never had the door panels off to see how they are cut.  Like the pic above, maybe they are cut different, but I have no 70 to compare with power windows

YYZ

His other door may actually be '73 or '74 which would have side impact bracing and other stamping changes that could interfere with the earlier PW regulator.

I'm not aware of any significant difference between '70-'71 regulators, and certainly not ones that would affect function.

Early doors and convertibles used 11 hole glass as well, later versions were only 9 hole.

Finally saw that " window regulator" episode on GYC. It's Season 7, Episode 8 (Daytona vs Hellcat) starting around the 27:10 mark. For those with Kodi or saved on a DVR, check it out. He explains it well why a 1970 regulator doesn't work in a 1971 (and up) door. That's my buddy's dilemma, he has 1970 regulators going into his 1971 doors. As he's pointing out in the picture of his spare 1970 door, there's a longer groove/indent in the inner upper part of the door frame that '71 and up don't have.

So, I'll ask again on his behave, anyone have a pair of '71 P/W door regulators to trade for a pair of '70 ones.

@Jay Bee if you are still in contact with a certain someone who lives up the hill from the Pen Centre, he should still have a set of '71 PW regulators that you could compare your friend's against.  Assuming that they are still being held in trust.

Jay Bee

In this Youtube video the door difference explanation starts at the 30:15 mark. Best to use Full Screen too.

Exactly. Too bad my buddy didn't find this out sooner, before the car(door) was painted. If he doesn't get the '71 style regulators he's going to cut away at that area of his door frame.

YYZ

If there are, in fact, 2 different styles of regulators, then that should be reflected in the '70-1 parts book.

Anyone have theirs handy to check?

My money is still on the problem door being later than '71

I already checked... One part number per side....

Yeah, this is what's gnawing at me. Only one part number per side for '70 & '71 Power Window Regulators BUT separate part number per side for '70 Manual Window Regulators and separate part number per side for '71 Manual Window regulator.

BTW, thanks 1 Wild R/T and YYZ  and everyone else that has helped on this.
