I'm all ears also, did a search of ebay, facebook and craigs list, nothing for booster much less 171.   

I have a long way from needing the set-up.    When its a bolt on part like this, I would be ok with affordable alternative and casually shopping for better deal on original parts to swap out later.   


@anlauto  more questions please;
so the wrong booster that I have in pics would be correct for my 71 vert someday down the road?  and would it still need to mate to 171 for disk set-up in 1971?   
lastly, I have 73 parts car with disk, do any of those booster/master parts apply to 1971?  maybe I can use 71 midland booster and 73 MC together is what im thinking for the 71', or the entire 73 unit.   I did notice the proportioning valve looks different in 73.     Thank you !

The "171" master is correct for 1970 only with a possible early build 1971's as well. It's a "187" I believe for 1971 which has a totally different appearance then the "171"

Yup the 187 master was used 71-74 and the Midland Ross booster 71- at least 73. Proportioning valve changed to the newer style in 73.

The Centric 130.63055 and Raybestos MC36283 are two possible options that have been suggested as something that resembles an original 171 master, as a cheaper alternative anyway. Especially once painted black.

That's my question / problem. I found a 187 a few years ago and had it sleeved. I was just going off model year casting numbers not date of build. Or realize the booster I verified as correct was a 70 only booster but the car being a 8-70 build would understand why it had the 70 Bendix booster. Just seeing if it would make sense that it has a 71 correct master with a 70 booster.  Didn't know if they could pair together or not. Because with the rising cost of everything i bet to get a master cylinder re sleeved is getting pricey on top of  the core charges of a 171.

I seem to recall reading some threads on the other boards that said the Midland Ross booster didn't start showing up until as late as Jan-Feb of 71. So it would seem that yes you could have a 187 master paired with a Bendix booster.

It is acceptable in appearance for me, a trained eye can reconize it's not a 171 due to the slight difference in width.

Maybe if it wasn't for the "casted ports" on both sides, it would be a decent copy of the "171"  :alan2cents:

Hi all, If I found a correct booster but it needed rebuilding and also the master cylinder shaft was broken... as I am being told, is it scrap or salvageable?   If it can be saved, how much would you pay for it and where would you send it for repairs.   or should i just walk away and wait for better unit to come along.   Thank you!
