QA1 Shock Install

Hey Guys,

Quick question on installing QA1 shocks on the rear of my cuda, may apply to all after market shocks, not sure.

Do I reuse the factory washers on both sides of the lower shock bolt or do I need aftermarket ones?

I have my shocks installed, but the washers are not tight up against the bushing.  Both washers will spin with the nut torqued to spec.

Not sure if this is an issue, or will create a rattle on the road.

any help would be appreciated.

I reused my washers and they fit a bit loosely as well.. no ill effects I've noticed. Did you use the metal sleeve provided as well?

I used the OEM washers and the bushing as well on the bottom. Don't recall them spinning.

For the uppers on the rear see how much play you have fore and aft.
Mine had enough slop that the shocks were banging back and forth against the upper cross member along the shock bolt. I added $0.80 hose bibb washers from a garden hose and that eliminated the noise.

Mine were loose also.
I added an appropriate sized washer to ensure the shock bushing was composed/ tight.

Hmmm. I know I used extra washers, just don't remember exactly where I put them right now. I'll have to go look.

Looks like the inner metal sleeve is just a little too long and sticks out past the bushing.  If you trim the inner sleeve a little, that would allow the washer to make contact with the rubber.  Not sure that it's a big deal either way.

Actually the sleeve is exactly as long as the shoulder on the shock mount itself.

I used a washer with an ID that was the same diameter as the shock inner sleeve and slipped it on after the shock. Tightened up the cupped washer onto the flat washer. Shock is held tightly.

Thanks man.  I will keep that in mind.

I think I will take it apart and see if I can get everything tight.

Hardest part will be getting the washers with everything closed up right now.
