I then pushed it out to replicate the factory undercoating.

I did make a deviation from the fender tags and build sheet.  This car was a stripe delete car but I really thought it would look good with a white stripe.  So, I put one on.  Hopefully that is the last stripe I ever have to put on.  That was stressful!

That brings us up to the last week of December 2024.  I did a front end alignment and my wife and I took it on its first drive.  We went to the gas station and then to pick up a bottle of Champagne to celebrate.  The car ran great, handled great, shifted great, etc.  I have a few electrical items to sort out but it is essentially finished.  How long did it take?  11 years, 8 months, and 14 days.....    My intention is to drive the wheels off of it this Summer!

Great work and thanks for saving such a cool Challenger!
Maybe I missed it somewhere earlier in this thread, but I was curious how it had ended up in Hawaii and how long it was there before returning to the mainland?
I was just thinking of salty climates this morning as I drove to work.  We had a nuisance light snow yesterday and they'd dumped tons of salt on the roads.  Today is dry and sunny, but as I drove I could see clouds of dusty salt getting kicked up by semis on the highway which made me cringe as I try to not expose my Ram to driving when the roads are salty.  I pondered if this was similar to climates near oceans with lots of salt in the air.

Awesome. Although mine isn't restored as nicely, I have been working on mine about the same amount of time and I am almost ready to get my champagne. Hopefully early spring. Just a few little things left. Good job!
